OK, looking through my Steam library, here are the things I feel like would be 'good' to play right now, with reasons why I should/shouldn't play them. + is good, - is bad, ~ is a neutral note about it

Afterfall InSanity
+ Main chara is cute
+ Pretty cool setting
- Might be too scary
~ Last time I tried to install it, it just crashed a lot?

DmC: Devil May Cry
+ I love the first DMC and the series seems to have really fun gameplay?
~ Never tried it so might not even run properly on my computer
~ Might not even be any hot charas

Dragon Age: Origins
+ Plenty of perving to be done
+ Battles are thoughtful and engaging
- Have to restart or try to pick up where I was, both of which are stressful

LaMulana
+ Played a little and it's very fun
+ Friend with good taste recommended it to me
- Not a game to perv over
- Has some arbitrary puzzle solutions

The Last Remnant
+ Akitoshi Kawazu directed it
+ I've played it before but not finished and know I love the gameplay
+ LOTS of perv opportunity lol
+ Lots of strategy
- Extremely long
- It's old so no Steam achievements, even though it had XBL achievements...

Lost Planet 3
+ The main character is a hot bearded dad
+ Other hot characters maybe???
+ Apparently considered kusoge which means I'll probably like it lol
~ Never played it so don't know if my computer will run it
~ Never played so IDK if it's really what I'm looking for right now
- Is a shooting game I think??

resident evil 4
+ BITORES MENDEZ
- He's gone shortly into the game then I have no motivation to play anymore
- Runs a little slow on my computer and I have to play windowed
- Maybe too scary

Resident Evil Revelations
+ Barry is main chara in the 2nd one?
- Maybe too scary

Ys: The Oath in Felghana
+ Very pervworthy.
+ Ys!!!
- Supposed to wait for X to play with me
- I'll probably finish it in like 2 days

Also, I have so much weird stuff in my library, like... something called "If My Heart Had Wings" which I apparently got 2 months ago but I have no idea what this is or where I got it??????? And it looks like one of those hypersexualized anime children games so I can't imagine buying it for myself...? I mean if those have good stories I usually get into them anyway but I never seek them out? Maybe it was part of a bundle?

Also I have Crypt of the NecroDancer which I have wanted for a long time so I'm really shocked I have it because if I had realized that I would have been playing it?????????????????????????????????????? Why do I have all these games??? I mean I don't have a ton but there were probably at least 5-6 games in my library I can't remember ever obtaining at all... Some others I was like "OK, I don't remember this, but this was probably a gift" or "probably came in a bundle" but these others it's just like... why do I even have this??? Though I did buy this one Humble Bundle once because it had Read-Only Memories which is a computer pun for a title and the trailer was vaporwavey and I was on a super vaporwave kick then and HAD to buy it. And all this other stuff came with it and I didn't even pay attention so maybe that's where some of this came from. Like, the bundle was a 'storytelling' bundle or something, so it was mostly NVL games it seemed? I actually never played Read-Only Memories and just played Cibele (because it was only like an hour long) and it was kinda cool for what it was. Gets way too much hate.

Anyway, looking at my list above, I think I can narrow it down by removing some. DmC is too iffy and I have a feeling it won't run well (Capcom games tend to have a lot of issues for me...), and Afterfall is definitely too scary for now? LaMulana is not pervable enough and not really what I'm looking for now I think, even though I do want to get back into it soon, and Ys, I still would rather wait for X plus it's just too short. I mean there is an achievement for beating it in under 5 hours... though I mean, I'd be doing multiple playthroughs and it's probably longer than Ark of Napishtim? Maybe? So maybe I could get a good 30 hours out of it honestly. I have 33 hours in Ark of Napishtim and honestly you could probably beat that game in 5-10 hours if you wanted to XD (I have 136 hours in Ys Origin and you can beat that game in under 10 hours as well LOL, I like replaying Ys games and doing all the optional crap).

So that leaves Dragon Age, Last Remnant, Lost Planet, and Resident Evil.

Lost Planet is 19GB and I only have like 22GB free (I reallllyyyyyy need to clean up my drive). I was gonna download it just to try it out a bit but... yowza. OK, I cleared up a bit so I have 38GB free, 10 of that was PS2 disc images. I have too much porn. I will back some of it up and delete it on Monday, I guess. A lot of that was really hard to find and I can't justify deleting it now LOL. I have a thumb drive that I keep a little bit of backup porn stuff on but it's full right now. There's some stuff on there I could easily delete. IDK if I feel like really looking through it right now, though.

Lost Planet and Revelations are the only games of those 5 that I haven't even tried. I think RE4 with its laggy nature and that it's shooter-action-oriented and doesn't have much appeal after Bitores Mendez I don't feel super interested in it right now. Lost Planet I'm very curious about trying but IDK if I will really get into it, since it's also a shooter??

Revelations apparently has more survival-horror style gameplay rather than action-style like more recent games, plus it's a port of 3DS game I think? So hopefully my computer could handle that. I mean my computer is pretty nice but it's kinda old anymore so I worry about it LOL. It might not handle Lost Planet at all though, who knows.

Dragon Age and Last Remnant are about both equally appealing. I already know Last Remnant has tons of characters I'm super into, Dragon Age has potential for that and is more of the setting I'd like to play right now (like something a bit more gritty/realistic, while Last Remnant is vibrant animu style, which I love but right now IDK)

I think Revelations is about Jill and Chris though and I'm just going to be sad it's not about Barry and wanting to finish it so I can play the 2nd one (I don't even think you need to play them in order though?) but then I think the 2nd one you have to buy episodes and I only have the first episode and yeah that just sounds not great.

So it's really down to Lost Planet, Dragon Age, and Last Remnant. I'm super tired now so I'm just going to go to sleep, but I think I might start the download for Lost Planet now, and then try it tomorrow and see how I like it, and then if I'm not so into it or my computer can't handle it, I'll make a decision about Dragon Age (whether I want to start a new game or continue my old one) and do that, and then if I can't make a decision, I'll play Last Remnant XD

I feel like you should play Dragon Age XDDDD because I am selfish and I want to share it with you - none of my friends play Dragon Age really. My sister does but she doesn't get as into things as I do; she played it through about 3 times (mage, city elf and then a human noble) but I played every single origin story at least once and I played mage through about 4 times as well (I love mages and I Loved Knight Commander Greagoir lmao) XD And I have all these random characters that I love that are just amazing and I am so desperate for you to get to Redcliff even though I know you're nowhere near it but that's where my favourites are XD

So to Dragon Age list add this:
+ fanderping friend

Also I have never been able to handle Resident Evil so I only know maybe 2 characters from there because I used to find it too scary. And I remember when Lost Planet came out I really wanted it but everyone brought it back after renting it and was just like "WHYYYYY" XD

I think I remember playing the Last Remnant. It was ok as far as I remember, but I never finished it and it wasn't one of those games I really got into so much. Usually if I rented something from work I'd end up buying it but I managed to resit that lol

Hahaha actually that is a really strong motivator to play DA, I might just try Lost Planet out for the sake of trying it to see if it works and stuff (I mean, I bothered downloading it at this point) and then go to DA anyway. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do (restart or try to continue...) ... maybe I should just play through the first time on a normal difficulty since the game is meant to be played through multiple times anyway.

And yeah, it's hard for me to play Resident Evil, too. I've only ever played three of them: the original, the remake of the original on GameCube, and RE4 on Wii. The remake was the first I ever tried, and I would always play with others around. I get really nervous about stuff like hearing a zombie but not being able to see it. It freaks me out. That kind of anxiety-type fear is worse than jumpscare fear or 'giant scary thing attacking you' fear. I mean I'm easily scared by everything, even Devil May Cry was scary for me, and the haunted mansion in Rune Factory 4... those aren't even meant to be scary games.

Anyway, I always played with my brother around for the remake and I could never get very far, because it was kind of hard to figure out the puzzles and figure out what to do while being scared lol. There were some areas of the game I was just afraid to go and wouldn't go there but obviously if there is an item you need like a key or something there, I'm not going to progress...

With the original on PlayStation, I played with my friend Ricky who knows the game inside out and he would talk me through stuff and calm me down while I was playing and was really helpful. He teased me about being scared of it but he also wanted me to be able to enjoy it so he sat with me from beginning to end and helped me play both characters. Like, he didn't just sit and narrate or tell me what to do, but if I was afraid of going into a room or something, he would say like "Don't worry, it will be safe" or "there might be a scary thing but it's okay" or something like that. And if I got confused on the puzzles he would give me hints, but only if I asked.

Then with RE4, it's more a shooter and not so much puzzles and stuff so it wasn't hard to figure out what to do, but I also played with my friend Ricky and I was playing on Wii and like... I was shaking so bad in fear that I couldn't shoot anything because the crosshair cursor thing was just wildly flailing around the screen LOL.

And yeah, other scary games I haven't been able to play either. I played a game called Into the Gloom which is not even really that scary and the graphics are just like black and white blocks, but I played it because my friend made it (it's actually a pretty neat game) and recorded it and I cried like every 5 minutes. But I pushed through it!! It was a really short game though. Then he made an updated version and got it onto Steam, and I wanted to play it again to see the new content, and I streamed it on my Twitch channel, and even though I was actively talking to people and had already played through it before, I still cried while playing lol. But mostly because the game is just really creepy atmosphere the whole time and then there's random albeit few jumpscares and so I'd just have panic attacks and die.

The Last Remnant is one of my fav games of all time; Akitoshi Kawazu is my favorite director and all his games are fantastic and I love them (he did Unlimited Saga, too XD) and they tend to be like... really convoluted and complex and difficult to understand and unorthodox and most people hate them but for some reason I really love them all XD

But yeah DA is probably the most likely thing I'll end up playing at this point XD

Seconding the vote for DA, though a few things about Revelations that might sway your decision.

The first game is mostly about Jill, with some Chris thrown in. Technically, it's mostly about a couple of new characters, one of which is an older portly gent you might like. The second game has nothing to do with the first (the first takes place between the 'Fall of Umbrella' scenario in Umbrella Chronicles and the 'Lost in Memories' DLC of RE5, and the second takes place after the Degeneration movie, but before RE6) and mostly follows Claire Redfield. Barry is, like, a secondary protagonist. He's not playable in the first episode, only the second though :/

[identity profile] thaao.livejournal.com 2016-08-24 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I've already started DA up again :P I tried picking up where I left off to see if I felt it was reasonable, then was going to restart if I couldn't get back into it, but I actually was able to get back into it easily. I forgot most of the terminology but can remember most of what happened (since I didn't get to far) and at least realize what people are talking about when they say stuff. I feel pretty caught up now.

Thanks for the info on RE though. The only games I've played are the original and REmake, and RE4. And I haven't even finished RE4. So I'm not really sure what you meant but... there are movies? And they are in the same canon/timeline???????????????? Like I remember that one weird movie with the girl and it seemed to be completely unrelated to RE and there was that part where the guy got hit with that laser grid and turned into meat blocks (that is literally the ONLY thing I remember about that movie) but that's it??? I kinda remember maybe hearing of sequel or something but didn't know if it came to fruition (I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MOVIES OF ANY KIND LOL)

ALSO I AM CURIOUS ABOUT THIS PORTLY GENT. Sad that Barry is a secondary protag :( I don't even have the second episode lol.

Barry Barry Barry I love himmmmm

[identity profile] thenicochan.livejournal.com 2016-08-25 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No no no. The live actions movies are an abomination, awful, and disrespectful of the original games and I hate them not canon to the game timeline. But there are two CGI movies which are. Degeneration, which stars Leon and Claire (in her first appearance after the time skip), and Damnation starring Leon (and Ada, to a smaller degree) which takes place between their appearances in RE4 and RE6.

The CGI movies aren't that bad.

[identity profile] thaao.livejournal.com 2016-08-25 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow I had no idea there were CGI movies?????????

RE is one of those things that I love a lot, but only follow casually. Horror series are tough for me in general because I'm a super weakling who cries when I hear a zombie so it's really hard for me to play LOL. But I really like the stories and characters a lot XD Clock Tower is my other horror love and it's the same way... fortunately there's fewer games in that series :P I still need to look into Haunting Grounds and NightCry though :O I remember when you played Haunting Grounds :D I hadn't gotten into Clock Tower yet though so I didn't know it was related at the time I think?

[identity profile] thenicochan.livejournal.com 2016-08-26 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh.

Haunting Ground is one of my favorite games, ever, and I've played through it probably close to ten times. I'm also a big fan of Clock Tower, at least the first one, which I think has an interesting premise and some really impressive design choices. I haven't been able to play the other ones, but I *am* quite interested in Jennifer's story. I'd love to read a well-written novel of the game haha.

[identity profile] thaao.livejournal.com 2016-08-26 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I have only gotten bad endings in the first Clock Tower :( I really want to try to see everything without a guide but it is hard lol.

I am sure you know, but the second game has more Jennifer in it, and it also has Helen who is my favvv (and Professor Barton who I love too). Though I think most of Jennifer's story is contained in the first game. I really wish they would have made the other games more related to the first two. Though I guess there is only so much you can do with that story. But CT3 just seems so... Random...

HG looks so fun though and I really wanna play it. Did you do the thing where in a later play through you play as the dog or something? I kinda remember you talking about it XD I've also tried not to spoil myself too much about the game though, but I know there's something about playing as dog lolol
