Some more notes/ramblings as I play through FF6 for the fourth time lol.

Thank goodness for the maps in this remaster btw. I would have completely missed a side room/chest in the mountain if it weren't for them. I'm a bad explorer D:

It would be cool if they made Locke/Edgar/Banon a little more suspicious. I realize that's asking for adding a lot to the game, but Terra not knowing where she would put her allegiance would be a lot more intriguing if there wasn't a super clear "good guys." I mean, in a way, the Returners are wanting to use Terra in the same way the Empire did -- as a tool in war. But they just happen to be the goody-goodies. I realize they let her decide for herself instead of mind-controlling her, but yeah, the point is the same, I wish they would have played up the "these people want to use me too..." part just a tiny bit. Make her decision have a bit more weight to it.

Terra says she has no family/friends and then Locke's like "THAT'S NOT TRUE" but it kinda is??? LOL

The item "Green Cherry" reminds me of "Blue Cherry" from Gorenger. Now I wanna watch Gorenger~~

You can get the Genji Glove without refusing Banon a bunch. If you go explore the hideout after refusing once, a guy will give it to you, and then you can go say yes. You still won't get the Gauntlet though.

I kinda like how Locke is constantly worried about Terra. Makes his whole schtick more sincere.

Ultros... another character I very much do not like. He's super random and again just comic relief. He's iconic, I guess, but in general I don't like comic relief, especially when it makes it harder to take what is going on seriously. This part isn't so bad, as it kinda makes sense to just come across something random here, but later on when he's like actively plotting against the party and stuff it takes me out of the game and feels embarrassing.

Sabin just jumps into the water and never resurfaces and they're just like "eh, he'll be fine" lol... all the while the silly music is still playing.

The split scenario thing is the first time the pacing gets really awkward IMO. You're racing to get away from the empire hot on your trail and you randomly do a couple side stories (which are mandatory to proceed) and one of them is VERY long. By the time you're done with it, you may as well have even forgotten the empire was just about to capture the others. The idea of choosing which scenario to see is certainly novel, but... IDK, I just feel like it breaks up the narrative very awkwardly.

It makes sense to do Terra/Edgar/Banon first, as it's the most 'pressing' and makes sense to see what happens right away, I guess, but then the other things are happening AFTER it and it is kinda... weird. Might make more sense to do Locke first...? I get that they're all supposed to be happening simultaneously, but there's no way to make it really feel like that without jumping around between all of them constantly, which would be even WORSE for the game, so... IDK lol. I feel like they could have done something altogether differently with the direction here to keep a better flow.

Nevertheless, it feels "neat" to pick a scenario so let's go. I think I'm just gonna do them from left to right, so we'll start with Locke. I remember when I first played this as a kid, I rented the game (I got my own copy as a gift later, but my first experience was through rental) and I got to this part and couldn't figure out what to do (I think I didn't realize you could steal the clothes, idk) and there was no internet so I just... couldn't continue with the game. I was so upset that I only got to play a couple hours of my rental and then couldn't progress at all.

Also I just remembered I named Terra after my mom.

Always remember to put your main gauche in your left hand, kids!

Locke is really good at stripping men naked.

Also the guy is just... dead on the ground afterward?? And still clothed??? LOL They should have made him run off or something. But I think it's possible to come back here and steal the clothes again if needed. I don't remember.

If you go to a shop to buy equipment, it doesn't show Banon in the list of characters who can equip stuff (though it shows the other three lol). There's space for Banon too.

Is there a way to figure out the password without just guessing? Because having to go all the way back to where you started and steal the clothes again is REALLY stupid for a guessing game. I guessed the wrong thing twice to see what would happen, and... that's it. Real great game design there.

One of the wrong passwords should have been "Wild Rose" instead of "Rosebud" tbh. Though curiously all of the passwords are the same number of letters, so maybe there are hints somewhere? Reminds me of the stupid letters puzzle in Super Mario RPG that I always thought was "Oyster" when I was a kid even though you couldn't spell Oyster with what was given lol.

No one questions how this random merchant got into the house and is just wandering around. Maybe they knew that some people use the secret passage so the non-imperials accept it but the imperial soldiers like don't question it at all...?

They have a loud conversation walking around and everything while the guard sleeps in a chair lol.

Locke doesn't respond in battle when Celes uses magic for the first time like he and Edgar did with Terra.

Tunnel Armor looks like something out of a Mega Man X game.

Runic is so cool~~~

(Terra story now, back in Narshe) the SAXOPHONE is back~~~~~~~~

OK that scenario was very short lol. No wonder I always forget what exactly happens in it.

I'll do the Sabin scenario later. Time to take a break :3

This always gets me with Edgar. He's so excited to reunite with Sabin that his "ehhh... he'll be fine" response seems so tonally off beat. But I guess that's just how Sabin Is(TM)
