So, with the whole Dens health thing going on, I've been mostly playing Tokimkei Memorial ~forever with you~ on my phone (using emulation) because it's something I can easily pull up and play a couple minutes, doesn't matter if I have to use touch controls, etc.

Anyway, it... doesn't have a proper album system. And being me, I want to collect ALL THE THINGS but the game is not letting me, so to 'make sure' I've collected them, I've started collecting screenshots. Originally I wanted to get all the events into videos but that's not really something feasible for me right now, and maybe something I'll never do. But this is something I can work on little bits at a time and doesn't require a lot of energy, and something I can come back to later and don't have to do all at once.

Instead of uploading the images to my DW storage (I'm paranoid of it getting full, and want to save that storage space for the Pokemon watchthrough, which I do still plan to get back to at some point) I deicded to make a new X account and post the screenshots there: https://twitter.com/NTokimemo

If you're anti-X, I made a bsky alt: https://bsky.app/profile/ntokimemo.bsky.social but IDK how much I will update it.

I'm wanting to collect screenshots of each outfit, each special scene, and each ending, like you'd be able to capture in the newer games like TM4's album system.

So this will basically just be a list of links to the X posts.

The Album! )

Halftime

Halftime on the Colts/Raiders game so I'mma just update how gaming is going.

Street Fighter II - Still stuck on Sagat with Chun Li. I'm getting frustrated with the game so I only play like 10-15 minutes here and there. It's not as fun when you're just grinding out the same few fights over and over. When the whole entry project was new I was super motivated but now I'm just super tilted XD

Tokimeki Memorial - I played through for Kagami's ending but didn't manage to get it x_x; I got all of her scenes except one, though, which is nice. And I guess I needed to get "Bad End" in my ending list so you can call it progress, right? I started up another play going for Kagami but then ended up meeting Mikihara on the first Christmas party, so IDK if I should go for her or not. I've really been neglecting studies so I'd really have to focus on boosting those back up.

Final Fantasy XIII - I haven't actually started this yet, but I installed it. I've played through it before, but I think it's going to be my next YouTube LP project. We'll see how far I actually get into it though :P

Dens is actually OK with me recording in the kitchen, which is where I stay most of the day anyway, so that's super convenient. Though I won't be able to record while he's napping or whatever, so I mostly have to wait until evenings... but that's generally when I would record anyway.

I managed to beat Vega as Chun Li...!

... once :)

I'm using the savestate feature so I can save after one victory to try to get the second, since it's so hard. I'm considering giving up on this 'project,' as it's too much for me xD Maybe I'll just get as far as I can get and then watch the endings on YouTube?? And then I can move on to later games...

In other news I got all of Kisaragi's events in Tokimemo except one. I've actually triggered it before (it occurs randomly and is very rare) but couldn't record. You'll get the same events if you have save stated at the beginning of the week, but I hadn't, so even resorting to my last save and doing the same actions again didn't trigger it. Now I'm just fighting off bombs and waiting for 'winter uniform' time to come back around so I can hard save the game at the beginning, then I'll just reset from there, save-stating every week and hitting random commands and seeing if it pops up.

And sadly there are a few events like this in the game...

... Maybe this is another project I'll give up on hahaha.

I also think I did what you need to do to get her to wear contacts for the final confession, so I'm set to record that, too, and then I'll have all the event variations down, too. Just gotta get this stupid random event. There's a couple of those in the game, too.

I also met Kagami for the first time (I normally don't focus much on appearance) and wow is she difficult to please. I thought she was just going to be an airhead or something, but she's actually quite interesting. Sadly the characters don't have actual stories or develop in this one, so I'm not going to get to see any growth or discover much depth to her, but it'll be fun aiming for her ending anyway.

A thing I do often is not check on what I'm doing to make sure I'm doing it right. I was working on recording all the special events in Tokimeki Memorial and I got like... 5 or 6 events with a few hours of playing... and then realized that OBS was locked up and it wasn't ACTUALLY recording them. Because the thumbnail was always the same, it just looked like it was OK, but I wasn't looking closely enough. It was just frozen on a still screen.

And I did a bunch of work defusing bombs (I had like 6 bombs at once at one point) and even got hit with a couple bombs... and of course I only keep a couple of saves, so I pretty much have to go all the way back to the beginning of the game and try again to get to the point where I started messing up :,)

But I did discover that you can easily see events of characters you're NOT going for when they start bombing you, as the girls get pretty agreeable as the game goes on (I guess if they were picky AND bombing you, the game would be nigh impossible without a TON of savescumming and just wouldn't be fun at all).

But yeah. I think next time through I'm not going to make myself well-rounded (I like to be meticulous about checking the BioRhythm and stuff and trying to get the most out of every week, giving myself pretty high stats all around) and go just for a studious build, to reduce me meeting so many girls so I'm not dealing with bombs constantly. Then maybe I can even work on getting lots of events for the few girls I do meet. I still plan on getting all the endings anyway, so it's not like it's imperative that I get lots of events in each playthrough or anything, but it would be nice if I happen to miss some.

There are 8 events for Kisaragi, one at least I know has two variations, and then of course the ending, which I think has two variations, one you have to unlock like... mid-game... so I might rush through to the end of the game in my current save to get one, then on my restart to get the other stuff I messed up and missed recording, I can go for the variation on the ending... hey, actually that works out since I have to play through twice just for the ending variation anyway!

Here's a list of Kisaragi's events with video links for the ones I have recorded:

Tokimeki Memorial ~forever with you~ minor spoilers )

Events marked with * are ones that I "recorded" that didn't work. I also got several other events for other girls that didn't work, too. Really wish I didn't mess up the second one; it was so cute!

And yeah I'm still chipping away at Street Fighter II. It's just... very difficult lol.

So, getting TokiMemo3 to run in the emulator was pretty exciting, so I'm thinking of doing a TokiMemo Play Diary soon. Like, after I finish one or two of the SaGa games that are going on right now (like, the current playthroughs, not the WHOLE thing).

TokiMemo is a VERY short game -- you can clear it in 7-10 hours usually. It's meant to be replayed over and over. So I'll probably try to shuffle them in between SaGa plays or something? It wouldn't be too terribly hard for me to finish a whole playthrough's diary in a single week or something.

But I'm curious what game people would want to see the most.

The ones I'm considering doing first:

Tokimeki Memorial 3 - My personal favorite, as well as the least popular of all the games lol. It's kind of the UNLIMITED:Saga of TokiMemo in a way. Um, a very vague way. It has a lot of unique systems that you don't see in the other games. It's also pretty ugly, though. The 3D models looked kinda cool when it was new, but the end result was a bunch of creepy-looking clone girls with different hair. They're even all the same height! I still love it anyway, though, and it has great characters. I've even cried at this game!! I've gotten about half the endings, but the other half, I haven't seen yet.

Tokimeki Memorial 4 - The newest game in the series, and definitely the most polished and fleshed out, too. Lots of content, great characters/stories, and some interesting new mechanics which include a sort of New Game+ feature that was sorely missing from the rest of the series. I can't get it to run perfectly in the emulator and have no other way to screencap my PSP, so it might have some minor graphical glitches similar to UNLIMITED:Saga's when I started those diaries.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side - The first of the Girl's Side series, which is a spinoff series where you play as a girl character and date boys. This is up there with TokiMemo3 for me as a fav, and while there are more games in the Girl's Side series, I always come back to this one because I love the characters too much. The GS games don't have as interesting or developed characters, IMO, as the 'normal' series, but they do have some unique gameplay systems, are super cute, and have great art and stills, and the characters are still great even if they're more static.

Those three are the ones I'm considering. I maaaaaybe would do the first game if there was enough demand for it. It's not bad but it feels very lacking in content compared to the newer games, so it hasn't aged all that well. But it might be interesting to see where it started from the beginning.

I don't have the 2nd game, actually.

And if I do GS, there's also the question of playing the PS2 version or the DS version. I want to do the DS version because I've already 100%'d the PS2 version, and the DS version has more content and features, but it's also... ugly because it's a DS game. Hard-to-read text, obnoxious split-screen CGs, low resolution... It's probably worth all the extra content, honestly, and I have played it quite a bit, but I like playing on the PS2 because I like having the nicer graphics and music, as well as the anime intro thing.

So if anyone would like to see any of the three of these, let me know.
