Again, more notes for myself :) These should be relatively easy; the "hardest" part is the RNG -- you have to have the wandering peddler come to your house BEFORE your daughter turns 16. When I was going for blacksmith, he came when she was only 11, so I bought the two items needed for each of these endings and saved in a separate slot. So I'm going to try to acquire it from that save.

marrying off my daughter to a furry?! )
marchionessofmustache: (Scaravich)
So, the least-acquired achievment on Steam for PM3 is the Blacksmith ending. Of course, the English-language guides and wiki offer 0 information about this ending. I found ONE Japanese resource with information, though even Japanese guides seem to be 'off' sometimes (I followed an Imp guide to the letter and got a garbage ending -_-)

Here we goo )
marchionessofmustache: (Ryan)
So from my fork, I was able to get Southern Kingdom Princess, Rabbit Princess, Empress, and Princess (the true ending). Lots of endings!

Now I'm going to try to get my 20th ending and officially be 1/3 of the way done with all the endings...!

I decided to go for Imp ending... which should be... very easy, as there's only a few requirements.

First, you have to buy the Suit of Darkness and wear it to a vacation. Seems easy enough.

Then you have to clear the game with these stats:

Morality: 100-
Charm: 500-
Trust: 50-

Wandering Monk and Retired Knight, our go-to occupations, start our daughter with relatively high Morality (more than 100 for sure). So it's time to experiment with some of the other jobs, which means experimenting with the other moods...

So I think I'm going to go with Merchant. It starts the game with only 50 Morality and 50 Charm. She'll be Arrogant from the start, but I think it's possible to clear this ending in Arrogant mood, so that shouldn't be too difficult to work around, right? And if it comes to it, I can just buy a bunch of teddies to try to get her out of it, as it doesn't matter what her Attitude is.

The best work is probably going to be Market, which will consistently lower Morality. The problem is we need 80 Vitality to unlock it, which we're going to have to get through House Cleaning, which will also RAISE Morality. But Vitality should raise slightly faster, so we should get to 80 Vitality well before reaching 100 Morality, and then we can lower it with the Market work.

With the Arrogant mood, we're not going to be able to easily raise Vitality through Chat, so we'll have to just ... keep it around 80 and get used to performing badly at work. But it's okay, because Merchant starts with 3000G, and can get pretty big stipends, too. We just need 1500G to buy the Suit of Darkness and then ~500-600G to go on vacation once to meet the devil. So we can do that with the starting money alone.

So it seems like the plan is pretty simple:

Start the game as Merchant, work at House Cleaning until 80 Vitality, then work at Market for the rest of the game. Yes, do this for the. entire. game. Sounds kinda boring tbh. I don't know how you would even get this ending on accident, but actually doing it on purpose is an exercise in patience over tedium.

The hardest part is going to be Trust. Trust raises all the time, so we're going to have to actively try to lower it. This means refusing to give birthday gifts (the only thing we can actually do without relying on luck) and then hoping she asks for things and then denying her them. Hopefully as Arrogant, I can find some way to Chat Trust down or something...? I'm going to be experimenting with the Chat command a lot this run to see what I can figure out.

So, let's go.

Picked Sagittarius since it has the lowest Morality boost.

OK, so far I've been saving/reloading and chatting to try to find all the different possible chats. You get one randomly from a selection of three for each different type of chat. So once I find a new one, I execute another time block and save and try each type of chat hoping to get a new one... anyway, it didn't take long until I discovered all nine patterns for Arrogant mood.

If we GREET, two of the options do nothing at all, but one she'll actually say she wants to work hard, and will get Vitality+10 (nice!)

If we pick GENTLY, two of the patterns will raise Pride (one by 8 and one by 12) and the other version will raise Trust by 1 (which we don't want!!)

If we pick STRICT, one variation lowers Pride by 10 (which would be good for getting OUT of Arrogant mood), another raises Stress by 5 (eep), and a lucky one will lower Stress by 5 and lower Trust by 1, great for this run!

So I'm going to be just choosing Strict and hoping we get the Trust-1 one. But I don't really want the others (I'd rather she STAY Arrogant for now, so I can see how it affects the game, so I don't want Pride to decrease, and I never want Stress to go up).

I guess I could spam Greet and hope to roll the Vitality+10, which will make her better at doing her Market work (she kinda sucks) but it doesn't really matter how good we are at work TBH. We just need the peddler to appear once, and that's it... and I think he appears based on how much money you have, so our starting 3000G should be enough to encourage him to stop by.

Yeah, actually that's probably the move. It's not worth the risk when 2/3 of the options are bad ones, and with Greeting, only 1 of the options even does anything and it's a good thing.

Oh, and Morality DOESN'T lower by working at the Market while Arrogant. I was looking at the chart wrong when I thought that (it lowers for basically every other mood). But the only thing that's happening with Market work is Intelligence is going up and Pride is going down. So maybe we'll fall out of Arrogance eventually from the Pride dropping but...

OK, actually, there's NO way to lower Morality as Arrogant. And we'll be slowly creeping upward every month. So I guess it's best to try to get OUT of arrogance now and lower Morality as much as we can when we get out. The problem is the best way to get out would be buying teddies... but we want to save that money for the peddler.

OK she just stopped being Arrogant from a few Pride drops by working at the Market XD

Now Vitality is increasing as we do the Market work, too, so that'll make her better at the Market work.

...OK she went into Bad Attitude.

This is kind of hard hahaha. Now she can't even do Market work. The only work she can do is House Cleaner and Bar :\ And Bar raises Charm and House Cleaner raises Morality.

Well, after a couple more rounds of bar I got the Peddler to come and bought the Suit of Darkness. Went on vacay and met the devil. Nice. Now to wait out the ending and hope we don't get our stats too high...

OK by messing around, I discovered a bit of a loophole in the game mechanics. If you try to work at Nursery, Farm, or Market while in Bad Attitude, she'll get turned away and just waste the entire time block at home. Unlike CHOOSING time off, this doesn't affect stats in any way (so it doesn't lower stress or anything, either). But it does pass time without affecting stats! So if your stats are how you want them, you can basically stall the entire game away this way!

If you queue multiple of the same in a row and then execute, it won't work (like if you do farm-farm-farm, she'll decide to run off on her own and then it will be as if you gave her free time). But if you queue different ones back-to-back (farm-nursery-farm-nursery for example) she'll repeatedly get rejected and waste away the time blocks. I literally queued three YEARS of conflicting jobs and am just waiting out the game now lol. You do have to intervene and press the A button each half a month (to pass the text of her getting shooed away), as well as turn down the festivals and make a choice about a birthday gift.

Refusing to give a gift lowers Trust, but also increases Stress and lowers other stats. I don't want to risk her getting sick by getting any stress at all (since Vitality and Stamina are very low) so I went to buy her a gift... then I was like "wait I think I'll try just saying no anyway and pay attention to how it affects stats" and well, if you say you'll get her a gift then back out of the store... nothing happens. You don't get the penalty for not giving her a gift, but you don't have to buy a gift. Game keeps going.

So basically you can do LITERALLY NOTHING to change your stats for the entire game as long as you are in Bad Attitude. Of course, if you're trying to do... pretty much anything other than get this Imp ending probably... this wouldn't be helpful, but it is a good way to get this ending at least!

I'm going to see what other low-stat endings I might be able to pick up this way...

It looks like Thief requires a bunch of stuff under 300 with high courage and 20+ Martial Arts training. Shouldn't be too hard to load my save at 14 years old and work through it this way.

Loan Shark also seems to need all-around low stats, with lots of money at the end. Should be able to get that from the 14y/o save as well. Will be kinda annoying to go through all this again, but that's when I met the devil to get the imp ending, so I need to go back that far. I probably could have waited and met the devil later, but I didn't realize I was going to be doing it like this and that other endings would be possible this way... XD

UMMMMMMMMMM AFTER ALL THAT, I GOT MARKET CLERK ENDING...?????????

The devil came and said she "became a human with no fun" and then it took me to the other ending... wtf...

Well I have thanksgiving prep to do so I will mess with this later XD

Birthday Apr 26 (Taurus)
Blood Type B
Retired Knight

LETS GO!!! Let's bang the beardly old king!!

I started a new game and saved over the old one I was saving to test stuff out. Oh well :)

The teddies got Attitude to 165. Now it's time to start dancin'~

Got to 100 Stamina within 6 months (first half of October) so it's time to send a 10 year old to work at a bar.

Peddler came so I was checking what I needed and realized my plan didn't account for raising Pride at all :) :) :) Looks like we're going to have to do some martial arts training once we get all this other stuff out of the way. Hopefully there's enough time. I did buy the Fruit of Glory to get +50 Pride at least...

Wow, Lisa is being very needy... she asked to go to a Dance Class (I let her, should have said no) which tanked our money to 200G. Then while working, she asked for a bouquet! I didn't want to say no since we would need those eventually anyway, so I just said yes... then we had like 80G T_T

At age 12, in December, we reached the needed Elegance (at 520). So it's time to start spending all our money on bouquets, going to Etiquette Class again when Elegance drops below 500.

Age 13 in June, we now have 496 Charm. We'll pick up the other 4 points we need in Bar work, so it's time to start working on Pride. Dance Class is the best method for raising Pride, but it's not THAT great (nothing is) and we have to make sure Etiquette Class is taken more often than Dance Class... going to be tough balancing these. And we need a whopping 500 Pride. We're only at 243. Eep.

I think I'm going to keep on doing Dance Class until we hit the right amount of Pride, then we can go back to Etiquette Class to get it done more times than Dance.

OK, Age 14 February, we're finally at 500+ Pride. Now the only stat left we need is an Attitude of 700. That's... a lot. But teddies are cheap and we'll be buying teddies to get it there. So hopefully it shouldn't take too long...

Well a little into Age 15 we hit 700 Attitude.

There's one more requirement I forgot to mention -- we have to work as a palace maid at least once. It wasn't hard to do; we worked as a maid once and were introduced to the job, then worked at it.

Now all that's left is to get our Etiquette Class more frequent than our Dance Class. We've done Dance like 31 times or so, and Etiquette only 19 times... so we have a LOT of Etiquette left to do.

I might be able to fork this ending and get the Princess ending... it actually has mostly lower requirements if you manage to meet the Prince yourself (the requirements are really high if you don't meet the Prince over the course of the game). Meeting the Prince is not too hard, you just have to know how to do it... and with everything we've done so far, all I need left to do is to just work as a Palace Maid about 10 more times and we'll meet him.

I might even be able to fork and get the Queen ending...?! But we'd need to get to 500+ Intelligence by the end, which would be kinda hard (though we could buy lots of Poetry Books...)

Anyway, I am tired and gonna go to bed now. Etiquette Class can wait for tomorrow...

OK I'M BACK AT IT!!!

I got a 100 on the etiquette exam and got a 1000G scholarship?! And stress went down to 0 (it was getting pretty high too). Cool!!

When Charm hit 900, we got a "pile of gifts" from admirers, landing us another 760G. We're rich !!!! Well, not really rich as we're keeping ourselves poor with all this Etiquette class XD

Won the Cherry Blossom festival and got 3000G. We'll never have to work again at this rate XD

The peddler came so I looked at the requirements for the South Kingdom and Rabbit Princess ending and I should be able to fork to those as well. My save at slot 4 will be for that. Slot 5 is going to be my working save toward this ending. 1, 2, and 3 I'm not sure what I had planned for... I can probably fork 4 into the Ruling Queen as well. Actually, I can probably fork 4 into the Princess ending, as well, so I don't even need saves 1-3 lol.

Well, now it's just riding out the end of the game to get the ending.

Did it :D Sadly beardman didn't appear in the ending, just the consul dude showed up and said the king wanted to marry her -_-

OK Let's try to get the forks. Next up is Ruling Queen, the 'best' ending in Princess Maker 1. We basically just need to get Intelligence to 500 while keeping Elegance at 999.

Tutoring seems like the best option for work. It only lowers Vitality, which we need 500+, but we already have 750+, so hopefully it won't lower it that bad by the end of the game. I THINK we should have unlocked it after I spent all the savings to get Intelligence to 300+ (just barely though).

Yup, buying some books and then waiting out the end of the game got us the Empress ending. Now to go for the Princess endings, but it's time to eat.
marchionessofmustache: (Saguaro)
Time for some more notes! How sick of me are yall?!

So let's marry the handsome beard king. Not as appealing as PM1's king but hey, I'll take a cute old beard king any day.

There are two different ways to get this ending, one you get through doing Etiquette and one you get through doing Dancing as your most attended class. Each one has different stat requirements. The Dancing one seems a little harder to me, so we'll go with the Etiquette one.

Here's what we need:

Pride: 500+
Morality: 400+
Elegance: 500+
Attitude: 700+
Charm: 500+
Trust: 60+

Morality can easily go up through church and Pride should be able to go up through Martial Arts. It might take a while to get to 500, but with the Fallen Noble occupation we'll have good starting stats in general for what we need...? The only bad thing is Attitude (and she'll start off Arrogant, which means she'll need LOTS of attitude to get 'better') but we can get that back with Teddies. Actually that's a horrible idea, because she'll need for Attitude+Morality to be higher than Pride+Elegance, and she'll start off with a combined 325 Pride+Elegance, and a whopping 90 Attitude+Morality. Both of which will be very hard to raise... that's way too many teddies. Looks like it's better to start in that job if we actually DON'T want Attitude.

Wandering Monk and Retired Knight both have about even starting stats for what we need... and Knight has more money that comes in... so I guess we'll start with that one again. Another blood type B as well. The 0.5 Pride per month with O Blood Type is not worth the loss of the -5 Stress a month with B.

I think I'll go with Taurus as the starsign, as it has generally even stat growth, with the only bad ones being Intelligence and Courage which we don't need.

To be honest the boosts from starsign are mostly negligible. You only get like ~1 in each stat every other month, or if it's bad, every 3-4 months lol.

I think the first order of business should be to get Attitude up to try to avoid going into Arrogant mood. This will mean mostly just working and buying teddies. The best place to work will probably be the Nursery, as it takes a low about of Vitality to do OK and we're going to start with 130. We'll also start with 1500G, so that's enough to buy MANY teddies. In fact, it might be enough to buy all the teddies we need... Nursery will lower Pride which is not so good.

But the problem is a LOT of jobs lower pride. Tutor would be a good job, but we'd need 300 Intelligence to unlock it, which is probably not going to happen.

Dang, this opening game is going to be rough.

It sounds like our best bet is going to be working at the Nursery, taking the hit to Pride, until we can buy enough Dancing classes (which should also balance out the loss to Pride) to reach the 100 Stamina needed to open the Bar job. Then we'll be raising Charm and Attitude, but this time lowering Morality and Elegance... maybe that's not such a great idea... I mean we can make both of those up from Church and Etiquette but that's a lot of money. We don't need a TON of Morality so maybe it'll be OK...????????

We're going to need to work on keeping Morality and Elegance up, as well as buying Bouquets to continue to raise Charm. That's... a lot of spending. With not a lot of income. But it seems no matter which job we do, we'll be lowering stats we need, as we need a lot of stats... Morality and Elegance are at least the easiest to raise. We'll probably work on Charm very last once we have a better stream of money because we don't need to buy classes as often.

OK here's my plan:

Buy as many Teddies as possible (until ~500G, so I think 9) and then start working at Nursery, going to Dancing class every time money is >500G. Once Stamina hits 100, start working at the Bar.

Then Bar work while we take Church and Etiquette classes as much as possible.

Once we hit the Elegance and Morality we need, start buying Bouquets. And doing the classes again if the stats lower too much.

Hopefully that's a good enough plan :)

So far nothing goes according to plan, but I'm learning the game quite a bit better, so maybe...
marchionessofmustache: (Blaine)
So, a quick look at some Japanese guides (I should really just stop trusting the English sites altogether...) revealed that to unlock the Mine you need 200 Stamina, while doing good at it you'll need 100+ Vitality. So we're going to start out doing House Cleaning even though Market and Nursery were available right away. We're going to hope the peddler comes, because then we can buy Honey of the Fairies to get +50 Stamina.

Age 10

OK, Stamina raises much faster through Martial Arts Class, so we're going to do that lol.

Well, after a lot of Martial Arts and a little Farm, we hit 200 Stamina. But something I forgot about is that getting too much Stamina and Courage without gaining Morality will cause her to have Bad Attitude. Interestingly enough, though, Bad Attitude allows her to get better increases at the Mine. And 200 Stamina unlocked the Mine so... be a little meanie, Lisa!

With the Mine money we're going to start taking Etiquette Class, though, which shall raise Morality along with Elegance and Charm, and once we can get Morality to 350, we'll get out of the Bad Attitude.

Oh, it looks like she even gets boosts to Morality by Mining with a Bad Attitude. Cool!

Sigh, but Bad Attitude lowers Elegance when she takes Etiquette Class. Doesn't even make sense, but whatever. I guess we'll have to go to the Church until her Morality is 350+...

Age 11

I gave her free time and she said "I can't stay a good girl" or something and was like gambling with thugs on the street?!!?!?

Anyway, speaking Gently while in Bad Attitude seems to raise Morality sometimes. She made a comment about me being a knight once and got +4 trust (!) from Gently Chat as well. But uh, I just tried again and she got +5 Stress X_X; And another time Vitality went down 10. This is a gamble! I'll try Strict next time...

OK Strict also raised stress LOL.

So, I just stopped Chatting altogether XD Now I'm just spamming Church after the stipend. Thankfully it's also slowly raising Elegance and doesn't increase Stress too much.

OK, Church got her out of Bad Attitude by February (her birthday is August 1) so now she can move on to Etiquette Class! Well, while it does raise Elegance very quickly, it doesn't seem to raise Charm too well.

According to the Japanese wiki, Dance Class raises Charm SLIGHTLY more than Etiquette Class... but it raises Elegance like half as quickly. But we need a lot more Charm than we need Elegance (our Elegance is already 204, and we only need 500, while our Charm is only 84 and we need 700). So I think we'll change over to Dance Class. It's also a little cheaper!

OK, working at the Mine a lot is tanking her Elegance. It looks like Dance Class will not even keep up with it. So it's back to Etiquette class. The difference is only 0.1/day in Charm, so... I think this will be better.

It looks like we'll definitely need to get some help from the wandering peddler and buy some Perfumes, so we'll need to have more money on hand. So I'm only going to attend class when I have 900G+.

Age 12

Lisa is 12! She's still trying to get a feel for the whole Etiquette Class thing... she got a 51 on her 'exam' lol.

She's not doing too well at Mining... her Vitality is OK but I guess not enough to keep up with the work. I could move over to Bar work, which would give her a tiny bit of Charm, and maybe more money if she could be more successful at it. We'll try that for a while...

Age 13

Well, working at the Bar seems to be working out a little better. The tiny bit of increase to Charm makes me feel a little better, and I feel like we're getting better money with how much more often she succeeds.

Well... gonna put this on hold until tomorrow. It's bed time.

Age 14

Well, shortly after reaching age 14, we hit the 500 Elegance, but only exactly. So it'll keep dropping if we work at the bar. It's been a struggle to keep Elegance up, and I think it might be better to do work that doesn't affect our 'main' stats and helps us get money that we can put toward buying Bouquets, as I think those are going to raise charm better than Etiquette Class. They raise Charm by 12, which is more than we get from a single Etiquette class, cost about the same amount (maybe less?) and don't take a time slot to buy, so we can squeeze in more money.

Maid work will increase Elegance and Charm, which is nice, and only drop Pride and Attitude. So I think we're gonna start working there and then buy as many bouquets as possible. I'll try to buy them when I have more than 900G so that I'll never drop below 700, in case the peddler comes so we can buy a perfume from him...

OK, she's not performing well at Maid work. It requires good Attitude and hers is barely above 100... plus Maid work actually LOWERS attitude (wtf). The Nursery might be a better choice as it has a very low requirement of Vitality to do well, and we have decent Vitality from Chatting and other things.

Nice, she's doing much better at the daycare than she was at the mansion. So I think we're going to start buying turkeys to reduce stress... it gives -80 stress whereas giving her free time costs a little money and doesn't fully recover stress when she's at 60-80. We'll have to worry about weight, but weight loss class actually raises Charm so it shouldn't be too terrible. The turkeys cost 120G, but we'll get an extra day of work in from not having to go on free time, and we should be able to make ~120+ from that. So overall we're coming out ahead.

Yeah, with this method, Charm is raising more than twice as fast (almost 3x as fast) as before. Seems like this is the way to go. I did get lucky and get 3 perfect jobs, which means bonus money. So probably won't go THIS good every quarter, but still.

Age 15

Well, we're only a couple of months into her 15th year, and she's at 650 Charm! Elegance is still 525 or so, as it's not raising at all, so hopefully it won't drop TOO much when we start working the mines. If it gets below 510 I can always do Etiquette Class in an emergency.

Aaaaaaand Charm has hit 710! I think she might need to be 16 years old to meet the Mole Prince...? IDK, as always, information on this game is not goood, so I'm not really sure. But time to start working the mines again. If anything, we'll get more money. Especially now that Vitality has been boosted.

Age 16

I spent the rest of age 15 mostly doing Etiquette Class with the big money we made from mining; I also made a save once Charm hit 700+, so I can go back and NOT do mining and see what ending I get.

But now it's time to MINE MINE MINE and hopefully meet the Mole Prince now that we're 16...! Apparently to meet him you have to mine 10+ times. I don't know if it has to be in a row, or just 10 times total, or 10 once you've gotten the stats, or 10 once you turn 16... we'll see I guess????

Yup, first day I mined after turning 16 I met the Mole Prince :) Now I think I just need to meet him one more time and finish out the game.

And the next time I worked the mine, we met the Mole Prince again and he asked for her hand in marriage XD Now I think I just need to close out the game.

... And yeah, that's all I had to do. XD FURRY MARRIAGE WIN!!!!
marchionessofmustache: (Liberta)
So, I've begun working on a guide site for Princess Maker 3. The name of the site is "faery tales come true" and will hopefully be a better resource than anything that is out there currently. I have a lot of work and discovery ahead of me, though... for example, I still don't even know how to have Lisa work as a hostess. I've gotten the job offered to her before, but it doesn't appear in the job list. Which means there's additional requirements to unlock it...

But anyway, I'm gonna go for the Mole Princess ending, where your daughter marries a mole man. Well, she gives him a kiss and he transforms into a human. I guess he was cursed. But she agrees to marry him BEFORE giving him the kiss, so she must be some kind of weird furry :P

Basically you just need to get Elegance above 500 and charm above 700 then work at the mines constantly until you meet the Mole Prince a few times. Working at the mine decreases Elegance, too, though, so that's going to be a problem. I guess just get it to like 575+ or something then start mining.

To unlock the Mine job, we'll have to have plenty of Vitality, too. And possibly Morality.

Something I learned from Japanese sites is that your starsign actually determines how your stats raise slowly over the course of the game -- every month, you'll get a small boost to every stat, and what boost you get is based on the starsign. Totally different from what English materials were telling me (which even admitted they didn't really know how it worked lmao).

Blood type also does the same, but a little more minor. It still seems best to just always go with blood type B, which decreases Stress every month (by a whopping FIVE, even!)

Lastly, father's occupation does the same kind of thing, but IMO the starting stats and money situation are more important than that. The only two jobs that don't start your daughter out with a bad status are Retired Knight and Wandering Monk. The boost to other stats and extra money could be useful despite the bad status if you were going for other endings, but for this one, we're not going to want that.

So I decided I'll go with the Retired Knight, as it gets a little more money and better overall start to our important stats.

For starsign, we're going to go with Leo. This gives the biggest monthly boost to Elegance as possibly (0.7) which will hopefully help balance out the loss from Mining somewhat. The boost to Vitality and Charm are good, too (0.6). Attitude, though only has a 0.2 growth (the worst growth of anything in the game lol), which will be important to make sure she doesn't become Arrogant. But we can also buy teddies to boost Attitude easily, so it shouldn't be TOO bad, especially with the income from working the Farm (for starting Stamina and money) and Mines.

Money is going to be important, so we're going to go for unlocking the Mines right away.

We'll start out doing House Cleaning to get Vitality up until we unlock both Market and Nursery, at which we'll alternate between to get Vitality and Morality. To get additional boosts to Vitality, we'll take Cooking Class which will also help boost Attitude to keep us out of Arrogant mood.

Once the Mines are unlocked, we'll start working there and pumping up Elegance and Charm through as much Ettiquette Class as we can. Fancy Dress will help with this, too, so we'll pick that up when we can, probably after a stipend comes in.

If needed, we can buy Noble Spring Water (+50 Elegance) and Perfume of Fascination (+50 Charm) from the wandering peddler, though those are kind of expensive.

Charm is going to be the hardest thing to grow, I think.

Then once we get the required stats, just... keep... working at the Mines... and hopefully the Mole Prince appears. I'm not 100% sure how it works but I think if you get the stats and have worked at the Mine 10+ times, he should appear when you next work at the Mine...?

Anyway, that's my goal. Hopefully this should be a fairly easy ending; I'm only really worried about getting the required Charm.

(Also random thing: Princess Maker 2 Regeneration got delayed from December to JUNE. -_- But hey, it gives me more time to work on PM3, I guess!)
marchionessofmustache: (Eagle)
So, I successfully got the Financier ending as expected. After buying a bunch of Poetry Books to get Intelligence above 900, I got the Palace Professor Ending. Loading with Intelligence under 900 and buying a ton of fancy dresses to get money under 3500 (I also tested at 3500-4000; the cutoff point is definitely 3500), she became a regular Professor (at the school).

So that's two scholarly endings down and another professional ending. There's apparently a "Banker" ending, but there's no indication how to get it on the wiki (the last of the professional endings). I'll have to look into the Japanese guides to see if I can find anything...

Next, I think I'll go for one of the special marriage endings, as I don't think they're particularly difficult, either, but a little interesting to trigger. One thing that's good about them is I don't think you need any stats UNDER a certain level, so it shouldn't be terribly hard to do, though you do need to get your stats done by age 16 instead of 18. But I think they're fairly simple requirements. I've only looked at the South Kingdom Prince one and it seems you need some stats, then have to wear the South Kingdom outfit (which you can only get through the traveling peddler), then go on vacation multiple times in the summer of age 16.

Financier

So, I didn't really know which ending to work on next... after the father marriage ending I kinda wanted something a little easier. But everything easy seemed TOO easy, so I just kind of randomly decided on trying the Financier ending.

Here's what we need:

Intelligence: 300-899
Pride: 0-499
Morality: 300-999
Attitude: 0-699
Sense: 0-699
Charm: 0-699
Courage: 0-699
Trust: 60-100

And money has to be... at least 3500 or at least 4000 (it says... both... on the same wiki page -_-)

Also we need to do schooling 20+ times, and it needs to be the highest class attendance. Church less than 25 times and no palace maid work.

My guess is it's 3500 because that's the cutoff for most endings. But I could always test it by buying a bunch of books at the end of the game or something.

The hardest part of this ending, it seems, will be keeping the stats DOWN.

Intelligence will be easy to raise going to school 20 times, but that also means Pride, Morality, and Charm will be going up alongside. Morality is fine, but Pride can't be more than 499. Charm SHOULDN'T get to 699 but who knows???

Monk seems like the best profession to start with, as it starts with fairly low Pride and high Intelligence. Virgo seems to be the sign to go with, as it raises Intelligence quickly. It raises Pride at a medium rate, but literally NOTHING raises Pride at a low rate, and most of the +Intelligence signs come with high Stress increase or high Pride incrase (or both...) so we're just gonna go with Virgo.

After that, the PLAN!

I think getting 20 schoolings out of the way first is going to be the way to go, so we can then see how much we need to adjust the other stats. There is no way to lower Charm, so hopefully the Monk's low starting Charm will balance out Virgo's high Charm influence... If we hit 700 Charm I guess it's just game over...? But I can't imagine Charm getting knocked up THAT much from 20 Schools...?

After that we'll probably need more Intelligence. Our only other option for classes is Art, which also raises Sense. Since we're going to have to go less than 20 times, I can't imagine Sense getting higher than 700 either... but who knows.

At first I think we'll start out working at the Market, which increases Intelligence and Vitality (and also needs more Vitality to work well). It also decreases Pride, but Morality as well. If we need to get Morality back up, we can start working at the Nursery which raises Morality and Attitude, while lowering both Pride and Sense which we're going to have to be careful about. Then the problem is worrying about Attitude...

If we end up needing to manage Attitude, there's always Maid which will lower it (but increase Charm), and Carpenter which will lower it, but increase Sense and Courage. Courage shouldn't be a problem since we're not going to raise in any other way, but basically we'll have to choose our Attitude-buster based on which is higher, Charm or Sense, and try not to push that one too far.

Chatting will either raise Vitality or Morality, and will lower Stress sometimes... so it seems like we're safe to Chat as much as we want!

OK LET'S GO FOR IT.

I chose 9/10 (my father's bday) for her birthday to get Virgo. I chose B blood type because it keeps Stress down and increases Vitality... though it also comes with the caveat of increasing Sense... but it seemed the best.

The stipend came up early thanks to the September birthday, so we were able to go to School six times right off the bad. Pride and Charm hardly seem to be increasing, so we should be fine with Schooling for quite a while.

Aaaaaand I've gone to school 21 times! We already have all the stats we need for the ending... now we just need money. And Lisa is only 11 years old...

Working at Farm will cause only Stamina and Morality to increase, while only decreasing Pride and Elegance. Elegance and Stamina don't matter, Morality can get as high as we want, and Pride can get as low as we want. Looks like we'll just be farming until the end of the game...

Kinda...

Farm isn't available as a job yet because we don't have enough Stamina. So we'll have to do House Cleaning until we get enough Stamina. This will also increase Attitude a bit... though it's only 161 now and we just have to keep it under 700, so I think we'll be more than fine to do housework until Farm becomes available.

Well, it only took a few House Cleaners to get Stamina to 100 and unlock Farm. Stats are EASILY within the desired ranges, so we just have to push ahead and see what happens. Stats seem to randomly raise little by little, but I don't think it will be anything strong enough to push us over the limits by the end of the game.

So now it's just... farm and rest. I could make a long schedule, but then we run the risk of getting too fat from all the days off. And we can't just vacay instead, as that will raise Charm and Sense a lot. So we're gonna have to make schedules of like... 4 farms and a time off... and then see what happens. Maybe we could string together two or three of those at once.

But yeah, she's not even 12 and we're already pretty much done with this ending. It's even easier than I thought it was going to be... I might save in a second slot and get Intelligence to 900+ to see what happens. My GUESS is that it will trigger the Palace Professor ending...??? Just from looking at it, it seems you basically just need to school 20 times and have 900+ Intelligence. Plus doing all that School we should get the achievement for becoming Chia's friend.

Well, with that, I'm gonna go to bed and grind out this ending tomorrow morning XD
marchionessofmustache: (Albus)
So I got the father marriage ending last night! NOTHING went according to plan. I was gonna blog along as I played, but I started feeling kinda unwell so I laid down and played. I still had to get up now and then to check my notes, though, which was annoying and uncomfortable. I guess I could have taken my phone with me and looked them up on my phone but... that's too smart for a dummypod like me :)

Martial Arts is not that great for boosting Stamina, but rather Courage. It took forever to get the 600 Stamina; I actually had to move over to Dance Class to go for it. Then I had the 600 Courage quickly and didn't have to work at the Mine at all (well until the very end when I was desperate for money). I ended up being VERY strapped for Intelligence to the point where I was even working as a Tutor to try to cram more in. After hitting enough Elegance and Charm, I switched over to Mine at the very end to get money (and lower Morality which for some reason rose) and bought as many Poetry Books as I could.

In the end, I got my stats finished with just TWO commands left to go before the ending. Very close cutting it!! I was so stressed out the whole time, I was sure I wasn't going to make it. Of course, I would have gotten some other ending, so that would have been fine, but I really wanted to get the one I was aiming for. Plus I didn't want to have to go through all that anxiety again hahaha.
marchionessofmustache: (Amanohashi)
Soooo I think I'm going to go for the 'father marriage' ending next. While it exists in the English version of the game and has a spot on the endings gallery, there is no achievement for it (making there only 59 ending achievements when there are 60 endings).

This is what we'll need:

Stamina: 600+
Intelligence: 600+
Vitality: 600+
Pride: 600+
Morality: 300-499
Elegance: 600+
Attitude: 800+
Sense: 600+
Charm: 600+
Courage: 600+
Trust: 100

Basically we need huge stats in every way... except Morality we have to keep kind of low...? Is that the 'grooming' stat...?

Also there are a few other requirements; she can't ever have worked as a hostess (why?), and she has to have done housework at least 30 times.

Honestly, keeping Morality balanced seems like it might be the hardest part...?

The first goal will be just to get 30 housekeepings out of the way, I think. I don't think we're going to be able to win any of the festivals since we're going to be doing a lot of housekeeping AND we're going to have to balance all the other stats.

Making enough money to get everything else up is going to be hard, as well. Playing as the knight might make it harder to get the 800 Attitude (it starts at only 30) but will give more money overall, while playing as the monk will make Attitude a little easier to obtain (it starts at 140) but will give quite a bit less money. I think I'm going to go with the knight for the money.

Oh, and we'll start with blood type B, which keeps Stress down as much as possible.

For work, we're probably going to constantly be doing either waitressing or mining, both of which gain a little Attitude and lower Morality a little. Bar raises Charm while Mine raises Courage. So we'll just work on whichever we need the most, I guess?

First order of business should be to get the Stamina to 600+. This will allow more room for Stress before she gets ill. We'll probably be wanting to push Stress to the limits to make sure we're not resting too much and missing out on important time for stat gains. So we'll be dumping all our initial funds into Martial Arts class. The housekeeping should also help with Stamina a bit.

After Stamina is up, the next things will just be working on each individual stat.

Intelligence: We're going to go to School at first, as it's cheaper and boosts Intelligence the most. But it also boosts Morality, so we'll have to be careful. If it gets close to 450 or so, maybe switch over to Art class to get the rest of Intelligence in.

Vitality: We'll have to get this mainly through Cooking Class. If we need to grind more of it out, we can work at the Market for a bit (which also lowers Morality).

Pride: This will come with other stuff -- School and Martial Arts will both raise Pride. Then once we start raising Elegance, we'll use Music Class, which will raise Pride, Elegance, and Sense. Hopefully we'll just get enough Pride through doing these... if necessary we'll have to grind it out at Martial Arts.

Elegance: We'll get this through Music Class along with Sense, and then also some from Etiquette Class... But it will also drop constantly... possibly buy Noble Spring Water if necessary

Attitude: Good luck!!!!!!!!! Buying Combs of the Goddess might help... though it will raise steadily through work.

Sense: Hopefully get this through Music Class as well, might have to go on some vacations as well later in the game if it needs crunching.

Charm: Hopefully after lowering Morality so much we will have enough leeway that we can go to Etiquette Class and raise up what we need of Charm. This also raises Morality but will be the quickest way to up Charm. Wearing the Fancy Dress can give us a little boost, but... we'll have to see how it goes. We'll also be getting this working at the Bar...

Courage: The only real way to raise this is through working at the Mine. Which, looking at that... I guess we'll be mainly working at the mine... Sword of Sword God can help but it costs 550, so... it'll be unlikely we'll be affording it... Aries and Leo will make Courage raise faster, so we might want to go with one of those. Aries raises Stress more than Leo, so Leo sounds good.

SO here is the plan:

Play as knight. Daughter's blood type B and sign Leo.

Start out spending all the cash on Martial Arts class. Buy turkeys when Stress gets to 50-60 instead of resting.

Once cash runs out, start doing housekeeping. Keep maybe around 300-400G just in case.

Once 30 Housekeepings are done, start working on Mining. Go back to Martial Arts every time you can afford it (trying to keep around 300-400G on hand, or maybe more).

Once Stamina reaches 600, start going to Cooking to increase Vitality. This will also help with Mine work.

One Vitality reaches 600, start going to School. If Morality reaches 450 or so, stop School and go with Art.

Next is to work on Elegance, Pride, Charm, and Sense once Intelligence reaches 600. Elegance is going to be hard because Mining will also be decreasing it:

If Charm is lower than Sense, go to Dancing Class. If Sense is lower than Charm, go to Music Class. If Pride hits 600 and Morality is low enough (<450), go to Etiquette Class.

If at any time Courage hits 600, switch over from Mine work to Bar work for the Charm. If Charm and Courage are both 600+, do Mine for better money.

The only things that should be lowering through this track will be Elegance and Morality. Morality is OK to lose for the most part, but Elegance will be tough to keep up on.

At the end, if Morality needs a boost, go to Church. I don't know how bad work is going to tank Morality, but we'll also randomly be gaining it, so...

If Attitude still hasn't hit 800, keep mining and buying Teddies.

As the game goes on, if there's spare money, buy stuff from the peddler if necessary to get stats up. In fact, maybe keep extra money on hand for the peddler just in case.

Stamina: Honey of the Fairies
Intelligence: Fruit of Knowledge
Pride: Fruit of Glory
Morality: Seed of Conduct
Elegance: Noble Spring Water
Attitude: Comb of the Goddess
Sense: Syrup of Illusion
Charm: Perfume of Fascination
Courage: Sword of Sword God

All of these give +50 to their respective stat.

Also the regular shop can increase a few attributes:

Teddy Bear: Attitude +15
Poetry Book: Intelligence +10, Sense +15
Bouquet: Charm +12
Delicious Meal: Stamina +12 (Stress -80)

These also raise trust by 1 (Teddy by 2) if needed at the end.

And some notes on what vacations raise:

Spring: Sense/Stamina
Summer: Charm
Fall: Sense
Winter: Sense/Vitality

That should be enough notes to go for it... but it's 40 minutes past my bedtime now :P So we'll go for it tomorrow.
marchionessofmustache: (Wily)
Hello, Reading Page! Are you annoyed yet?

Anyway, I went back and loaded my old save at 16y/o (where I rested til the end) and decided to boost up my Courage to 999 and see what happened. The first time I did it, I rested after getting there, and my daughter ended up becoming "too fat" which caused her stress to go to 999. This means it would have taken years to recover by sitting in bed. She literally got so fat she was bedridden for years...?????? Very dumb LOL Anyway, all her stats dropped throughout the resting period, so I just loaded the game again...

This time I was diligent to keep working and resting when needed. Took longer than normal but without Chat it wasn't too bad. Surprisingly, I got the Warrior ending by getting Courage to 999...!

Then I loaded the save again and spammed Carpentry work to lower my Elegance until it was lower than 500, then finished off the game, getting the Knight ending. So that's all four Military endings complete...!

I am a little disappointed in the Warrior ending's gallery still. There was all this stuff about her fighting pirates, finding a treasure island, fighting a dragon, etc. and then the image at the end is like... bikini armor with long fingernails...? And that's the BEST military ending??? The General ending was nicer, Knight was pretty basic. Soldier was a little disappointing, but makes sense for the worst ending.

I think next I'm just going to go for the Farmer and Farm Business Woman endings... it seems all you have to do is just work at the farm a lot...? Morality has to be over 100 (which is raised by farming, so shouldn't be hard at all) and Intelligence has to be less than 900. That's it. If you end the game with 3500G+ you'll get the Farm Business Woman ending and if you end the game with 3499G- you'll get the Farmer ending. So I'll just save later in the game, reload, and take lots of vacations until I have low enough money, I guess.

The Mine Business Woman ending... I'm assuming works the same, but again, the information on this online is just... not there, so I'll just go for the Miner ending but try to have lots of money...? Hopefully that will be all that is necessary...????

Seem like fairly boring endings to get, but I'll do lots of rest and see if we can adopt a cat early on.

The cat seems to be random after you do Free Time and go into town. I managed to get the cat late in one of my previous games, but I didn't have it long enough (I guess) to experience its sickness event (there's an achievement for taking care of its sickness). I actually have no idea how the cat works and of course there's no information about this online... so I just have to guess :) But my guess is you just have to have the cat for a while and then it will get sick???? And the event will just kind of clear itself up???

Oh and speaking of no information online, I have no idea what the "Wife of a Noble" ending is called on the wiki. I don't even know how I got this ending. And of course the wiki uses like random made up names for everything (seriously, there is a single mood that is called FOUR DIFFERENT THINGS across the wiki and it's so confusing) because it was probably written before the English version existed and they just used whatever the hell words they wanted, and each person was using different terms...

Anyway, I have no idea what this ending is.

Ah, I think I found it. It's called "Merchant Wife" and "Millionaire's Wife" depending on where you see it in the wiki (sometimes both on the same page, including its actual page!) ... And neither of these are the terms used in the game... and nowhere during the ending did it mention the noble being a "merchant" nor did it refer to him as a "millionaire" so idefk. But the picture lines up with the picture I got for my ending gallery so I'm going with it.

I kind of want to create my own guide for this game because the existing materials are so bad X_X;;;;; I actually thought of creating a guide for PM1... maybe I'll do guides for the whole series XD That's a little too ambitious I think...
marchionessofmustache: (Saguaro)
So Lisa is 14 and I've already gotten everything I need for the ending.

Stamina 569 / 500
Pride 325 / 300
Morality 531 / 500
Elegance 331 / 300
Courage 906 / 500
Trust 65 / 60

So I might save and see if I can go for the next ending up...? At the worst, I'll still get the Knight ending. Here's what I have and what I need for the General ending:

Stamina 569 / 700
Intelligence 120 / 500
Pride 325 / 500
Morality 531 / 500
Elegance 331 / 500
Courage 906 / 700*
Trust 65 / 60

Pride grows pretty slow, but I'm close enough. Morality can be boosted easily by going to church. Elegance... should be able to knock it up to 500 pretty easily.

Courage is supposed to stay under 999. I don't know how to LOWER Courage... lemme go check.

OK there doesn't seem to be any way to actually lower Courage... and I'm already at 906 (with no method to lower it, it's not a surprise it's so high...)

So I have to keep Courage down...

Martial Arts class is the only thing I've been doing that raises Courage, so I just gotta give that up. I still have to raise Pride, though, which I can do through School, while I raise my Intelligence... Stamina I will have to boost up through Farmwork only, which is a little scary, as it barely raises Stamina at all...

Dancing Class can increase Stamina but it also drops Morality. But I already have enough Morality, so I guess that's not terrible. I'll have to try out Dancing if I need Stamina desperately by the end...

I guess next step will be spamming School to see if I can get Intelligence up... take this one thing at a time and see how it goes. Just gotta remember NO MARTIAL ARTS. Well, I might have to do it if I do too much school, because I think I need to keep Martial Arts as my #1 most-visited class?

OK, I got Intell. up to 508. Morality is also at 615 somehow.

Here's what I have left to work on:

Stamina 585 / 700
Pride 390 / 500
Elegance 334 / 500
Courage 916 / 700*

Courage is rising?! I have no idea how. It's not her blood type, so maybe it's my occupation...? Let's hope it doesn't hit 999 by the end of the game... She's still only 14 years old, and it already rose by 10 out of nowhere.

If I have to redo this playthrough for General, I'm going to change over to Type AB blood type, as it gives a boost to Pride, and right now that seems to be the hardest thing to raise. It's barely above Elegance and I've been actively doing things that increase it (though farmwork also DECREASES it, sadly).

Next up is working on Dance class, which raises Stamina, Pride, and Elegance. But I'm not sure how much. We'll probably get decent boosts to Elegance, at least, I'd assume, but not sure how the other two will be affected.

Ah, I also need to check and see if I studied at School more than Martial Arts...

OK, I only went to school 17 times, and I've definitely been to MA 20+ times...

Time to DANCE, baby!!

OK, danced 15 or 16 times and I got my stats up...

Elegance 453 / 500
Courage 926 / 700*

That's all that's left to keep track of...! I should be able to get Elegance up through Etiquette Class... I do have to watch Pride going down because of Farm work, though... maybe I should switch to another job that doesn't lower any of my necessary stats...?

Looks like Tutor only lowers Vitality, which is not important and already high (846) and it raises easily through Chat so...

Time to Tutor and Etiquette...

OK Courage seems to go up 1 per month. It's at 927 now, and she just turned 16... so we have 24 months left to go. Looks like I should be fine.

Alright, a few Etiquettes later and I have all the stats I need. I guess just time to Tutor and Vacation until the ending...? Actually I might try just spamming Free Time... it will make her get fat but I don't think that will a problem for this ending...? I'll save before I try it.

Ah, it seems whatever she chooses to do in her free time will actually continue constantly until you stop it. Thankfully she chose to go for a walk, so stamina just constantly increases and stress decreases (this is literally the best possible random thing that could have happened hahaha). It also doesn't cost any money!

Oh... she randomly started going shopping :) this is weird lol. OK now she's choosing different things regularly. Before she was just walking a lot...? Shopping lowers Morality so that's not good... hopefully she doesn't shop it down too low. It's pretty high (650+) and we just need 500 though...

Shoppping also costs money and we're starting to run out ;;;;; Maybe I should not have just spammed free time hahaha.

OK I barely made it with enough money left, thanks to stipends coming in clutch lol.

And... General Ending Get!!!
marchionessofmustache: (Saguaro)
So, after looking up how to get some of the endings (I only looked at a few) I feel like the most fun thing about this game will be the planning, so I'm gonna make some plans here.

I was going to make a table comparing the military endings so possibly I could get the requirements for one, save, rest til the end of the year, go back, get the rest of the required stats, and get the other ending... thinking they were kinda linear... but it looks like they're not exactly linear and you'll need to plan out routes for each one...??

At least without errantry and combat and stuff, this game is pretty short. I got an ending in about 2.5-3 hours last night.

So I guess I'll just go for the Knight ending while I'm still in my babby phase of planning for this game, as it's the second worst military ending and shouldn't be TOO hard to reach.

To get the Knight ending, we'll need the following stats:

Stamina Pride Morality Elegance Courage Trust
500 300 500 300 500 60

A big trouble with getting both Stamina and Pride is that both jobs that raise Stamina (Housework and Farming) both also lower Pride. Housework also gives very little money, so it's definitely out. Farm lowers both Pride and Elegance, but we only need 300 of each of those, so it may be feasible to work at the farm a lot in the beginning to save up money, then use the money to go to classes to get the dropped stats back.

Farming up Stamina might also help in winning the Harvest Festival, which can bring in 3000G if we happen to win. It may be beneficial to just cram in all 500+ stamina right away so we can win the Harvest Festival and save up money, so we can spend the latter part of the game making up the missing Pride and Elegance with classes.

My biggest problem now is that I don't know how MUCH the classes/jobs raise each stat. Some stuff will raise it like more than 1 point a day, while some stuff will raise 1 point every several days, and with an entire half a month you might only see 1 or 2 growth in that stat.

My guess is, though, that our best option for class is Music class, which raises Pride, Elegance, and Sense. So we'll try to make up all the lost Pride and Elegance that way. If not, it might be better to go with Etiquette class, which raises Morality, Elegance, and Charm (hopefully more Elegance than Music?) and then spend the rest of the money on Martial Arts to continue raising Pride while boosting Stamina.

So I think for now my plan is to Farm as much as possible while going to Martial Arts class which I have the spare money to try to boost up Stamina as much as possible, hopefully winning the Harvest Festival when it comes around. Winning the festivals is pretty hard (they're just stat checks, but they're pretty brutal) so hopefully I can make it doing nothing but Farm and MA training, which should constantly be boosting Stamina. Then once Lisa is older, I can start working on Music class.

Also, the wiki doesn't say anything, and I'm too lazy to go find that Japanese notes site again, but my guess is you have to have done Martial Arts training at least 20+ times or so. So I'll need to keep track of that. I'll just go for 20 times to be safe.

So!! Here is the plan:

Until Farm becomes available, do Housework.
Farm and take Martial Arts class until Stamina is 500+ and have done MA 20 times.
Then just Farm (no more MA) until we've won a few Harvest Festivals and Lisa is older.
When Lisa is 16?, use savings to start working on Music class.

Rest when Stress > 40, though since we'll be doing a high-stamina build, later we can maybe wait til 50-65 Stress to rest.

Once we've hit the required stats, just keep working on whatever needs it the most so we don't fall below what we need.

Sounds like a plan! Time to go enact it. Let's do this !!
marchionessofmustache: (Albus)
So, I finished Princess Maker 3 again. And I got the Soldier ending... again.

I think this is a fairly low ending. And I was trying so hard, too...! I was hoping to get the Mine Boss ending with how much I had been working at the mines, and I had triggered so many scenes at the mines, too. I figured lots of work at the mines + high stats would make me likely to get the Mine Boss ending...? It was my most worked job (60+ times), while I only went to martial arts training like 30 times... I was desperate to get Stamina up because I thought it would matter. But I think going too many times locked me into a military ending...?

When I asked why my daughter was constantly delinquent on the forums, someone warned me that going to church 15+ times will lock you into a church-related ending. So the same is probably true for martial arts class X_x; I had most of key stats above 600, with a couple maxed at 999. The only things I didn't have so high were like... elegance and charm as I didn't think those would matter to a Mine Boss. But I even bothered to study a bunch to get my Intelligence up to 600+.

But uh, even if I was locked into a military ending, why did I only get Soldier, when I had such good all-around stats...?

Soooo IDK. I'm pretty confident in how to use all the systems now, and I don't think there's much else for me to figure out on my own about how the mechanics work... other than to see the ending requirements. But like PM1 happened, I'm worried that this will just make the game too easy. But at the same time, just blindly doing things and then getting completely random endings isn't exactly fun. It is more fun when I actually have a more concrete goal and know what I'm working toward.

One thing I do know is that I'm not really looking forward to another blind playthrough. So I guess I'll look some stuff up. If only the game gave you a little more direction itself...

OK so I looked a little up. First off, the wiki for this game is all kinds of crap. Not only is the formatting all messed up, but there are errors everywhere and contradictory information. One of the endings had a "trivia" section that was like "I don't think this is right because I got this ending w/o doing the things listed" 9_9 So who even knows how reliable this is.

Apparently the Soldier is the lowest of the military endings. There's no indication that you need to go to military training though...? Apparently to get the second lowest military ending, you need Elegance of 500+. I never would have guessed. Also, 500 is a lot?! The other stats seem to require like 700+. I guess all that time I spent studying for the Intelligence wasn't helping though.

Yeah, trial-and-erroring my way through these endings would not have been fun. I would have probably gotten Soldier like 10 more times before stumbling upon anything else and even then still not even realized how I did it.

It seems to get various endings you just need tons of high stats, in addition to working at certain things the most. Also, raising your Pride is not bad (I thought it would be kinda like Sin in PM2) rather it is required for a lot of endings. I was actively trying to keep Pride down on my first playthrough.

Mine Boss doesn't even have a page on the wiki X_X; along with a couple other endings. Guess we'll just be guessing how to get those! Maybe I can look up a Japanese guide...

Oof, even the Japanese guides don't seem very reliable. Well, I could only find one, and it was incomplete. I guess that's part of the woes of playing a niche entry in a niche series.

Ah, I found a list of endings and requirements here. Seeing the stats' names in Japanese make things make a little more sense. (... A little.)

Anyway, some things about PM3 after having 'refreshed' myself with two playthroughs (mostly bad):

- There are a lot of little random events in the form of short little dialogues. This makes things a little more interesting. They also seem to change a little depending on your chosen prior occupation, and there may be unique ones for that as well.
- There is a 'mood' system in the game where you can have your daughter enter certain 'moods.' This is kinda like delinquency from previous games (which is one of the moods in this one) but there are many more. There's a 'worried' mood when you get too poor, an 'arrogant' mood with lots of adverse effects... each one affects what your daughter will/won't do and modifies her stats as she acts, as well.
- No errantry or anything really hurts the game. Especially since it's beneficial to Chat regularly, you're going to be sitting there doing commands one by one and chatting, and it gets VERY repetitive. Moreso than previous games.
- The Switch version is buggy and clunky af. Even on the title screen you have to mash buttons a little bit to get the cursor to appear. Sometimes you have to click on things multiple times before they actually work, too. Once I loaded my game and it locked up on me. And once I started a new game and got an achievement for maxing one of my stats before I even did anything (and the stat was, of course, not maxed). Also sometimes the Chat menu opens again for no reason after you finish chatting (like, it goes back to the main menu, then even sometimes after you move the cursor off of Chat, the Chat menu will open again after a second lol).
- The translation is really bad. There are times money is called "support" and there's a time when Uzu says he's naked?? And like other random dumb stuff. It's like they just machine translated it with a cheap translation engine (not even Google?!) and didn't even bother to check it, even with a non-native speaker.
- The credits roll is in Japanese. Guess they don't care about giving credit to people who can't read it.
- You can switch language on the fly between English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. That's pretty cool.

Anyway, idk how to end this so I guess I'll just post now XD

Soo I did play Princess Maker 2 for a playthrough. I got the 'generic housewife' ending -_- I have no idea wtf is going on in that game tbh. But then I learned that PM2 is getting YET ANOTHER remaster, this time coming to modern platforms in December. So I'll be holding off on playing that one until then, so we're skipping ahead to Princess Maker 3 ~Faery Tales Come True~.

I was going to play on Steam but recently I've been addicted to my Switch (being able to play lying down is very appealing to a Slaking like me) and when I booted up on Steam I realized that the game has an endings gallery, so I can actually keep track of which endings I've gotten that way without having to rely on Steam achievements or making sure to carefully check on a checklist.

PM3 doesn't have adventuring and combat like 1 and 2, which is a bit of a let-down, as that really breaks up the tedium at times and makes for more interesting gameplay. But it does forego the ridiculous weight system of 2 (well, it DOES have a weight system, but AFAIK it's not advantageous to starve your daughter and required to be super skinny to even wear some clothes etc.)

It does have vastly improved graphics and animations, though, which is cool. Even the new remaster of 2 doesn't look as good as 3, lol. Granted, this version of 3 is a remake, so I guess it makes sense. But I actually even like the look of 3 more than 5 (though that's more of an aesthetics thing -- 5 has better quality of graphics at least).

I'm hoping for Regeration or whatever it's called, they will add a gallery feature, that would be AWESOME. But I'm not holding my breath; it looks pretty low-effort cash grab remaster tbh 9_9

To be honest, PM1 is shaping up to be my favorite at this rate. I've finished 1, 2, and 3 at least once each, and 5 is just... so long. But a lot of people like 2 way over 1 and like... it's definitely more complex, but sometimes simplicity is a nice thing. And your daughter has 32 different outfits (one for each season, for each age) as opposed to 2's like... mostly 4 that you will have in a normal playthrough. The clothes grow with her which is silly -_- I don't remember 3's clothing system but I don't remember her even ever changing clothes...???? I'm sure she can but I just don't remember.

3 is actually the 'black sheep' of the series -- so maybe I'll grow to love it like I do with Unlimited SaGa and Mega Man X7 and Final Fantasy II and... so on... I tend to like the unpopular ones :P Usually they're ones that tried new things and the execution wasn't exactly the best, but I appreciated what they were trying to do and found ways to love it anyway.

But with Princess Maker 3, I don't think they actually tried anything new...? They just... took out features??? Hahahaha. Or maybe removing combat counts as trying something new :P

Of the daughters, 3's Lisa is probably my second favorite design (with my favorite being 1's Maria). My least favorite is 5's unnamed daughter, and then Olive from 2 is just kinda whatever. Olive isn't terrible -- she kinda reminds me of Sarah from Romancing SaGa 3 in her hair kinda. Just kinda, though lol.

Anyway, my download is probably done so I'm gonna go play :3 I'll update again with my impressions of the game later (I don't remember my first playthrough at all, so this will be pretty new). All I remember is that I don't want to pick 'Traveler' as my occupation because 1. you get no income and 2. Lisa starts out as a delinquent 9_9

Hahahahahahaha OK my download is like stalled or something, it has 2 hours to go????? It didn't take that long to get to where it was so something must have messed it up ^_^ I don't know what to do about it. I'm going to close the software I'm using and see if that helps.

... Yup, it jumped from 2 hours remaining to 7 minutes remaining.

Well, let's talk about what I like and don't like about each PM game :D

PRINCESS MAKER 1
+lots of clothes!!!!!!!! very cute
+nice graphics in the Refine version, honestly looks better than PM2 Refine
+simple, in a good way
-maybe too simple once you learn the game, but that's only a problem to completionists like me :P

PRINCESS MAKER 2
+complex, also in a good way
+fun to figure out how to get jobs to go well
-stupid weight system
-endings seem kinda tedious? but I haven't played enough to know fully
-not great graphics compared to the others
-king isn't as hot as 1

PRINCESS MAKER 3
+nice graphics and animations
+stills gallery
-no more combat :(

PRINCESS MAKER 5
+lots of content
+friendship/love interest system
-really freaking long
-ugly daughter

Those are my main things I like and dislike about each game ^_^ Not a comprehensive list of pros and cons or anything.

PM4 is made by a different company and not released on PC or modern consoles nor in English (I think it's exclusive to PS2 and PSP in Japan?) and I know pretty much nothing about it. There's also some "spinoff" game on SNES that I think is just a reskin of PM2 that I also know very little about. So I'm not including those ^_^
