HM2 and FFL2
Sep. 16th, 2023 02:23 amSo just a little update on how HM2 and FFL2 are going.
So, I played through the first two seasons with Sara (and a few days of Fall), and am in the Winter with Pete. I got the treasure map with both characters and combined them with Game Link, and now I have the Miracle Glove in both games.

Don't know if I'll "need" this screenshot for my 100% completion proof, but I did finish Chocola's mushroom hunt and unlocked Mushroom Rice in the shop, though it only lasts for 10 days. Also, you don't need to befriend Chocola to trigger this event; it just happens in the fall regardless of your friendship with her. I was able to trigger it at the same time with both Pete and Sara even though I only talked to Chocola like 3 times total with Sara, and talked to her every day with Pete.
I'm still not sure if Chocola's friendship actually starts "counting" before she takes over the shop or not. She might actually start at 0FP at the time of taking over the shop, not counting any FP at all until then...? We shall see when I finally get there. I'm not talking to her at all with Sara, and talking to her every day with Pete.

The best possible score you can get in the mole-whacking minigame is 99. Then you get a congratulations message that says you scored 100. Maybe it means 100%...???

You can get a scene with Daisy where you bathe together in the hot springs. No marriage, but at least a bath scene...?! Sadly her shop is closed for the day when you get this scene, and I wanted to buy grass seeds that day... hahaha.

Also in the late fall, I got a scene with Mary where we made a time capsule. You get to write a note from a list of options -- I chose "I love Mary!!" for mine. Even though I love Daisy. Well, I love both!!
She said we should go dig it up in 3 years. I forgot to take note of the date in case I need to do something to trigger it in Year 4 though D:

You can actually fish in the pond when it's frozen over lol.

Anyway, that's about all my interesting little notes. Here's how the games are going:
In Sara file, I have 4 chickens and 1 cow. I'm not going to go for any more animals than that -- I want to get the 'normal' ending so I'm going to go mid on ALL the requirements, even though I'm pretty sure you get the normal ending even if you miss just ONE of the 'good' ending requirements. That's about all there is to note about her game.
I did trade all four chickens with Pete. There's a 50% chance upon trading a chicken for each player that their traded chicken will turn into a Golden Hen. Pete got THREE Golden Hens from the four trades. Sara got zero. When I went and combined the treasure maps, I tried trading the 4th chicken again to see if I could get a gold for either. Neither character got a Golden Hen that time. I could just keep doing it until I got Golden Hen for all four on each character but... nah.
In Pete file, I've reached winter and am a couple days in. I have the first house upgrade, the sheep pen, and the bridge built. I actually got the sheep pen first so I could start working on sheep right away -- I want to have all three of my additional animals from each pen born on the farm, so I need to get to work right away (having an animal born on the farm increases Happiness, and we need high Happiness to get the best ending). After that I built the bridge. I thought about getting the hothouse next, since the house upgrade is purely cosmetic (well, you also need both house upgrades for the best ending, but other than that it's not functional in any way), but I had enough for the house upgrade in addition to the 20,000 G I needed to buy 40 bags of napa seeds, so I went ahead and got it.
And yeah, I planted 40 plots of napa. Each plot is 6 squares of seeds (using line formations because they're the easiest to do with the Super Hoe... though I guess C formation would be plausible if you put them back-to-back... never thought of that. Maybe will try that in the spring??? That's an extra 1 crop per bag... ) ...
Anyway, I expect to make 136,000G in profits from napa alone. That's not including any fishing revenue, which I can make about 1500G a day fishing until 3PM after finishing the morning chores and town run, and then my 1550G egg income each day from my full coop of chickens, three of which are Golden Hens. The hothouse costs 50,000G and I'll need 24,000G for seeds in the Spring... so that's a surplus of over 60,000G. I will need to spend 4,500G on a Cow M. Potion at some point near the end of winter, too, but with all that money, that's not a big loss.
After that I can expect profits of 24,000G in the spring (yeah, it's kind of a crappy season for crops), another 136,000G in the summer (well, less because storms will destroy some of the crops), and 59,200G in the fall. Then another 136,000G next winter, too. So I should easily be able to complete the final house upgrade (100,000G and 900 lumber) at the end of summer year 2, and then I'll have all the building upgrades. After that, I'll have very little expenses (just crop seeds every season, and a few M. Potions to finish off my animal collection).
I don't think I'm going to go too hard on the herbs and flowers unless they seem particularly profitable. I haven't really looked into them yet.
My biggest worry for getting the good ending is shipping 10,000 items. I haven't really tried to calculate it yet.
Let's see, if I ship 240 crops in a single harvest... that's 1,200 crops in spring, ~1,200 crops in summer, 1,680 crops in fall, and 1,200 crops in winter. That's ~5,280 crops a year (it's not exact because storms destroy crops in summer). So over the course of 2 years, I should make more than 10,000 shipments on crops alone. That's not including the 4 eggs and 4 milks a day, 3 foraged items from the mountain a day, 4 sheep wools a week, and however many fish I catch on non-harvest days, and everything I shipped in the first year as well. OK, 10,000 items should not be a problem.

Not as much to report here, as I've just done a bit of grinding around the first town for Project Fate.
Fate is now at maximum efficiency -- he's doing 230+ damage with the Rapier (for comparison, Meta and Snez do 20-30 damage with Rapiers, Snez and Clak's magic attacks deal 40 or so damage, and Fate's Pistol was doing around 70-120 damage). He also has over 200 HP and takes 0 damage from every possible attack thrown at him with his "massive" 18 DEF. (Everyone else has less than 10 DEF, even fully decked out with armor).
Fun little experiment. The power creep will render this obsolete soon enough, though. But I've learned a bit about how to build a good robot, I think. Focus on HP and AGL, with a decent bit of DEF. Later on, I'll need more DEF, I think, so we'll probably have to sacrifice AGL and move back to using guns, having Fate be more of a tank with some damage utility rather than the master-of-everything he is now.
