Reactions/notes as I watch.

EPISODE 1

The opening song is go exciting~ I remember the English song being fun too (Pickin' up speed, runnin' out of time~~)

Grandpa is so cute~~~ We start the show with a mustached cutie. And what a mustache, too!

The joke about Nobuo asking Takao on a date is so strange hahaha. Like I guess he's poking fun at him for using 付き合う which means literally "to go somewhere with" but is often used for dating. But like he says it so earnestly, it's hard to tell what's up with this joke XD I guess you could think he's mocking him and 'calling him gay,' but at the same time you could even interpret this as an almost flirty gesture from Takao...? THEY THROW THIS IN RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING, TOO.

The animation and art direction can be really good in this series, but at other times it's just plain awful. Luckily they got a lot of it right at the beginning to get you hooked.

It's hilarious how they seem to be "controlling" the Beys, like as if yelling at a toy top will cause it to do what you say.

OK just kidding about the art -- Akira's face and mouth just made all kinds of strange warps lol.

Is Hiruta supposed to be chewing gum? Also, is he really "stealing" the Beys of people if they wager them in a match and then lose them? I mean, you could just... not challenge him if you didn't want to lose your Bey.

Why is it always curry in anime?

I'm not a master of physics but I just don't feel like the things he does to increase his rotation speed would really make it four times faster.

They really make these little toys so dramatic. Shell Killers are some kind of weird violent children's mafia that revolve action around a toy game???? Kai also dresses like a clown but somehow it looks cool in the context of the show.

Did they show Kai slap Hiruta in the English version?

CLIFFHANGER

The ending is very cute. I like Takao rotating on the Bey, and the music is super chill and cool.

EPISODE 2

He rose using the air pressure!

BEY-ON-BEY VIOLENCE. It's so dramatic. It's funny how Hiruta was like "If it breaks, you replace it. They're just tools." but then is like letting out bloodcurdling screams as if his family is being murdered in front of him because they broke his Bey. I guess he was pretty attached to that little toy after all, huh?

How exactly do you "train" your Beyblade abilities? It's just pulling a winder XD I have to get over the ridiculousness now, though... it's not going to start taking itself any less seriously.

Prof is best boy.

Who dresses these Shell Killers? And are these three the other Shitennou?

I like that this show utilizes the Chinese Four Symbols. I fell in love with that mythos from Fushigi Yuugi, and solidified it with other stuff like SaGa. My favorite of the four symbols is probably Genbu, because turtles are cool, but also because Genbu magic is so good in Romancing SaGa 3, and Gen-Bu is the first of the symbols you meet in Makai Toushi SaGa

Sarabada!

EPISODE 3

Max is sooooo good in Japanese because of his funny English and forced accent.

The dog thing. I have to get over the ridiculousness.

To be honest I'm surprised they don't refer to Beyblades using いる instead of ある lmfao.

I'm glad Takao lost to Max. Not making Takao too OP, and showing off how good Max can be right from the start. Plus we get to "develop" Takao by showing his weakness in his "one pattern" style.

Another cute mustache appears. Can I ship the chairman and the grandpa...???

Watching them talk about tweaking the parts makes me miss the Beyblade hobby. I don't know what it's like now, but in the beginning, it was like model-building. You put together your toy on your own and then could exchange parts and stuff, like building a little fighter. Of course it was mostly superfluous and up to luck who won, but it was still FUN, and that was the point. I wonder what it is like now...? I kind of want to try that new Beyblade game on Steam to see if it has cool stuff like that in it. But shelling out $50 for a kiddie game cartoon tie-in cash grab when I have no idea if it's going to be good or not...?? I'll wait for a sale, heh...

Takao hurts Prof's feelings :( What is his real name anyway?

Why does grandpa lick the shinai???

It's because he's supposed to be westernized, but Max talks very effeminately and refers to Takao as cute. With Takao's flirty "date" joke in episode one... are Takao and Max capable of a little puppy love crushing on one another???

How are these little plastic toys busting through concrete and stuff? Like okay, they're going VERY FAST, but like... they sustain no damage in the process??? XD

Max and Kai make for good rivals for Takao. A great little trio of characters. It's sad that Akira kinda faded into nonexistence already lol, but Prof is a great support character as well. I love the mechanic researcher vibe he has. Not only is it a cute archetype, but it adds to the depth of the Bey hobby.

EPISODE 4

Tournament stuff is always fun. Prof entering is really interesting and cool, too.

When the announcer DJ dude says "Go Shoot" it sounds like he's saying... something else.

Why did the C block get the weird hazard stage when the others didn't? Was it because there were more "rounds" or whatever?

They don't even need to yell at the toys, they do what their masters THINK even, hahaha.

Even after they discovered Hiruta was cheating and using razorblades in his Bey, they still let him continue? And just had this random unplanned match in the tournament?? LOL This was a little ridiculous.
