Complete!

Well, I have finally completed Princess Maker Refine. It only took like 4 days (a total of 38 hours... which I guess is a lot of playing each day now that I think about it O_o)

For most of the endings, I created a mid- or late-game save that I could load, tweak my stats, then rush to the end to see the different endings. Playing a full playthrough for each one would have been extremely tedious and boring, since the beginning of the game would be the same dull thing and then for a lot of the endings with low requirements, you'd just be sleeping for most of the game to see the ending.

For my final playthrough, though, I saved one of the somewhat harder endings, the General ending. Not only did I do a full playthrough for it, but I didn't even skip the intro! I watched the little movie and the game prologue, and played all the way to the end for my final game. Very fun. I did end up reaching the ending requirements around age 16, so I tried a little bit to graduate the martial arts class, decided it was impossible, and slept for the rest of the game.

Anyway, I had a ton of fun with Princess Maker and can't wait to get working on Princess Maker 2.

I was going to rank all the endings but actually remembering what happened in all 30 is kinda hard, and I don't feel like watching them all on YouTube or whatever (they're... kinda slow-moving lol) so I'll just talk about some of my favorite ones or more notable ones.

And those are the endings that stood out to me :)

Next up is Princess Maker 2 which I've mostly avoided spoilers for, though I have seen a list of endings that I tried to erase from my mind. There's one I just can't forget, though, because it's so bizarre that it's even an option. I'll get to that if I ever make a post like this for that game :P

That game also has ending variations -- in addition to your main ending you get sub-endings based on who your daughter marries and how well she views you. So you could theoretically get the same main ending as someone else, but different sub-endings to make it somewhat different.

And one of the possible marriage endings is raising your daughter to marry... yourself (her father). lol. So yeah now it's a daughter grooming game as of Princess Maker 2. And this trend continued for the rest of the series -- I actually thought it was a PM2-only thing, but apparently it's in 3 and 5 as well. (I know nothing of 4, which was made by a different company, and isn't on PC, but I wouldn't be surprised if father marriage was in that one, too).

According to Steam achievements, I've gotten three endings in the game so far: Dancer, Sorceress, and Prostitute. Dancer is a new one, but there was a 'Wizard' ending in PM1, and of course Prostitute as well. I don't remember the Prostitute ending being nearly as dark in PM2, but I also don't remember it well at all. This was like a year ago when I played. And my memories of this game have been overwritten with PM1 memories lol.

The only thing I remember about Princess Maker 2 is that you have to do farmwork a lot if you want to succeed at literally anything, because the stat it raises (something like willpower or constitution or something) determines your success rate at everything else. And I only knew that because I was doing so poorly at the game I had to ask on the forums why I constantly failed everything completely lol.
