Well, I had to go back and replay the last Sunday, the one at the end of week #4 :P It was rainy and a LOT of crops were fully grown this day so I had a lot of picking to do...
The basket is such a blessing lol... picking crops takes forever and this helps so much :O
I was able to interact with the kitty this time just fine XD No crash or anything. Huzzah~
Jessica's poems are hilarious XD
... wtf XD
At the checkup, Dr Hope gave me the key to the cave on the south side of the island :D You have to walk through the 'front' of this cave going between the ruins and the town anyway, so it's kinda on the way.
This is the first cave you get to explore :D Sadly it's very tiny lol. Other than the little entryway (which all fits on the screen at once), it's just this one little area for now. There are three treasures to pick up, two yellow jewels and a blue jewel. Once you get four of them, you can put them in places on your farm, and if you make a rectangle with them (this makes more sense if you're playing lol), the space inside will receive the bonus of the jewel (like, crops grow faster or retain water for a long time, etc.), and I think they also power up the ruins and open some of the sealed doors, like the one in the back of this cave. Of course I haven't even seen a purple jewel... but there are lots of blue and yellow doors close to your farm. I don't remember what's in them, but they're near Franco and Moonlight's rooms.
I've dug up many of these things so far... I don't... remember these...?? I didn't know what "set in socket" was; I just thought it would use it as if you had "used it when you found it," like... just do the normal function? But apparently you equip it to a tool and it powers the tool up somehow...? After realizing that, I only had yellow ones, and all they seem to do is restore power to the already-set stones for that tool, so I have no idea what the red one does...
Luckily it was raining on this day btw, so I had plenty of time and stamina to go into the cave and dig everywhere XD Watering the tons of crops I have tends to use up most of my energy for the day :\
This is another of Moonlight's art pieces. They're all over the island, just out in the open. The description of this one is fun XD Moonlight is cute :)
Here you can see the jewels placed on the altars around the farm. I don't have enough to make a full rectangle of one color yet, of course, because you need four. But as you can see the farm is kinda divided by these like white tiles? And at the corners of these divisions are the altars, and if you place the same color on four altars around an area, it will give that area the bonus. I don't know if it also makes the land fertile (as you can see, most of the land is covered with stone or those other weird broken tiles, and is completely useless).
I spent quite a bit of time on farming for the day on Monday, so instead of trying to go into town or the cave, I ran over to this little area behind the ruins. This is where the Digimon Telephones are.
There are so many fruit trees and almost all of them seem to bear fruit in the fall?!?
I... had no idea this little area even existed???? There's a placard here as if this is one of Moonlight's artworks, but... I don't see a centaur or whatever???? Maybe it only appears at night...? Like uses the moonlight or the stars or something as a reflection and does... something... I have no idea. But look at all this moss!!! I had no idea there was a big collection of moss over here...
This is the only thing I found that didn't seem to fruit in fall... and it says it has a short harvest period... I hope I can remember it!
Then I went to the forest that's back here after filling up my bag with moss. I have a scale pack now so I can finally harvest wild items! The reason for the scale pack is so stupid, but hey. At least the items aren't taking up space in my normal bag inventory XD
I picked up SO MANY of them, but it's only worth 57G?!?! I'm never doing this again D:
Cute ^_^
Melancholy Woods is already getting messed up X_______X This is like... the most depressing thing ever, honestly?????
I can cook curry now :) Though I don't know why Life would need to sweat, nor why he would need to be sensitive to spicy foods. Dr Hope, what kind of weird robot are you programming ???
It was a rainy Wednesday, so I went into town and tried to see where Liberta might be. Sometimes people do things differently when it rains, and sometimes they'll make a weather-related comment instead of saying the same... dumb things... they always say....
Liberta actually wasn't at the town hall, but Charles was pacing around back and forth in front of the desk??? He just says the same thing (explains that the town hall is where people can come to voice their opinions and he listens) so it was kinda weird.
BTW here is the like... Fire Spirit Shrine thing. No one ever goes here anymore so it's always empty because no one believes in the Spirits anymore. That's why the Spirits are gonna kill everyone with the volcano lol.
When I first saw this I was like "Haha, Dorothy is just using this as an excuse to spend her day hanging with her friend XD"
BUT I GUESS NOT LOLOLOL. Also this is the first time I caught Lucia at home XD I can never find her.
Desktop and laptop :) I think this might be Big's room...? It's really hard to tell whose room is whose honestly.
There is this really weird thing in their house LOL. This is also the like... weather/satellite place (almost everyone's house is part of where they work, like a second floor or some kind of extension... except for Liberta who has his own little shack lol).
But yeah it says like "STAFF ONLY" on a door back behind those red lasers and the whole hallway is like lit up red. It's kinda scary looking????? IDK if you ever get to go in there. I feel like MOST of the game world is 100% optional and 100% pointless. Like all the buildings are so huge and convoluted and there's like no point to exploring them??? But there's a ton of detail in them. It's so weird LOL
I like the little displays on the plant pots XD You really only feel the "futuristic" settings when you go in the rich people's houses XD
Nana sleeping in the middle of the day. She works late-night at the bar every day so it makes sense.
I couldn't find Liberta at all before the evening bell (in this game, the day is divided into 'sections' and when it reaches a certain time, a bell will chime, and everyone warps to their place for that time of day LOL. So afternoon I couldn't find Liberta XD) but in the evening, I found him here! In his chair!! But Jean was here :O And when I talked to him, since I've shipped every type of Spring crop now, I got an update to the dictionary XDD
I was a bit upset at first, though, because I had never seen him sitting here before, and if he had some unique dialogue for sitting here, I didn't want to have it overridden by the dictionary dialogue... it might be hard to run into him in this position again (does it need to be rainy Wednesday evening?)
Talking to him over and over just gave the second part of the conversation (where he says love makes words mature or whatever LOL, where I had moved to the other side of the char so his beautiful mustached face would not be obscured by the stupid bottle)
I left the house and went back in and he started saying other stuff, so relieved!! This is all he said though, hahaha. It seems like he must be testing a wine that Jean produced, since Jean is just... standing there and staring. And Liberta doesn't turn to Life when talking, which means you're overhearing the conversation, so he must be talking to Jean.
I forgot what Jean said, but I think it was the same thing he always says (about how you 'must be Life' as if he's never seen you before, and you're welcome to look around the winery). But it seems that Liberta and Jean get along pretty well? It kinda breaks my headcanon of Jean being bitter toward Liberta, but I kind of like the idea of Emma and Jean both having a crush on Liberta. It can lead to a lot of the same situations, just... in a different path LOL.
New entries in Liberta's Dictionary :D I love how the "New" things are pink XD Liberta made this book himself, so he put that little design at the top and highlights stuff in pink LOLOL
wtf is epoch-making??? Liberta likes the sound of it, though...
Liberta has an ear fetish. And before you try to tell me "maybe he just thinks they look pretty" THAT IS EXACTLY HOW I WOULD WRITE AN ENTRY FOR NOSE so uhhh yeah this is a fetish and it's canon LOLLLL
I love how this is supposed to be a dictionary but half of the entries are full of opinions or weird interjections by Liberta. The fact that Liberta wrote all this makes it even more fun. This is like... my favorite part of this game and like honestly a big motivator to keep playing LOLLLL
On the way back from Liberta's (he lives on the VERY far end of town), I stopped back by Max and Nana's place because I'm still curious what everyone does when it rains. Max was eating alone. Nana was awake now, but she goes to work in the evening and stays there all night... Maybe the reason Max goes to visit her is not because he's actually worried about her, but maybe he's just feeling lonely :( It's kinda sad they hardly get to spend time together. But that explains why they love going shopping together on Saturday, and why Max attends her music class even though it's for children :) He just wants to spend as much time together with her as he can because he loves her a lot~~~~~~~~~
Would love to see some candid, off-the-clock Chuck. So I went rummaging around his house in the evening. He has chairs... at the sinks... in his bathroom? And has two sinks???
I ran into Dorothy and Lucia talking to each other in the dining room, though! I guess Lucia does like hanging out with Dorothy; she must have just been overstaying her welcome before XD
This is all they would say though, so it was kinda WTF.
Then I found Marco and Chuck in Chuck's office. Marco was offering a plea to get funding to build a 'supercooler' or something, which is supposed to stop the volcanic eruption that will happen soon and kill everyone. I talked to Chuck next, but all he said was "I'm busy right now" (to Life). You can also see Charles pacing around in the back. I think Charles might have anxiety lol.
The rest of the week was pretty uneventful. I spent almost all the time farming and running to grab the rest of the moss by that lake, and a little bit of time in the cave digging stuff up. Like I said, I used all my Crimson Shards before realizing I could "set" them on a tool. So I need to find more.
Finally, the day of the Spring Festival came! Marcia and Life go to the Spirit shrine thing, and Marcia tells Life about how she was able to see Nature Sprites. Life tells her he saw them too (you see them on the first day) and she is happy someone else saw them. I don't know if this ever becomes something more. I assume it does, since the Sprites are listed as characters on the website.
Max is one of the attendees at the festival :) Not very many people came, but they still were all like "Ah, so many people came compared to before!" so I guess normally like one person comes??? LOL
Well, you don't mince your words, do you, Jonathan??
... OK but I really would have wanted to hear the speech honestly? (Jonathan also talked about how horrible and boring it was LOL) I really want to get to know Chuck more! But all he's ever doing is working and so I never get to really hear anything about him. I mean, I guess that does say something about him, but...
Anyway, a little bit of his personality comes out here. It seems his grudge is really with Dr. Hope maybe? Perhaps he just thinks the idea is ridiculous -- or maybe Marco is helping plant that idea in his head -- and that Dr Hope is wasting his time to create an android to try to revitalize the ruins. And so maybe he just looks down on him, but doesn't have anything personal against Life himself. In fact, the only times I feel like I've seen Charles or Chuck badmouthing Life, it's around Marco (who is pretty bluntly anti-Life LOL)
But here, he praises Life and makes it sound like he'd wish to talk with him again. I mean, it's probably just because he's so proud of his speech, but still. Poor Chuck. I wish I could have listened D: But I was getting my robo-maintenance done XD
Then I found Marco over in this corner O_o?
Marco, be thankful that you are tubby and have a mustache and glasses, or I'd probably hate you.
You dumbass, that won't work. The magical Boom Boom Sprit is gonna kill everyone with the big mountain unless a robot learns to be human by growing crops inside a ruins... BE REALISTIC
And here's the offering we put up with Life's crops :) Hopefully these will appease the Fire Spirit for now :O
After that, the festival ends and it forces the day to end. On the way out, Max stops you and tells you that you're going to miss the dancing, the best part! Then Marcia is like "EW NO" and rushes you out???? I WANT TO DANCE WITH MAX YOU DUMB LITTLE ---
Anyway, that's where Week #5 ended :) And yes, Week #5 is the 4th Sunday in spring, because the first week of the game is the last week of winter.
I didn't seem to get any kind of new objective??? But the villagers were supposed to repair the bridge after the festival as long as we had enough offerings from Life's farm, so maybe I can go ahead and go across the bridge now? Or is that gonna have to wait for next Sunday -_-;; I guess I'll find out in the next week. If the bridge is still out, I'm gonna try to find some more Crimson Shards and set them in my tools to see what they do. But if the bridge is fixed, I'm gonna go explore :D I think there should be more caves and treasures back there, and I can finally complete a set of same-colored jewels and start unlocking doors. I think the first month is supposed to be like a very slow intro to the game or something lol. Honestly the pacing in this game is so weird, like it's so slow now, then suddenly it's really hard to complete your objectives once you hit a certain point XD Like pretty much for a whole month, the objective is like "ship a crop. just anything. do it." which is so easy??? They even give you asparagus seeds for free LOL. But then after that it's like EXPLORE THE WHOLE WORLD AND DISCOVER 100 TREASURES AND MEET THESE NEW PEOPLE AND SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS AND GROW 50 CROPS YOU HAVE 1 WEEK GOOD LUCK
I don't think it ever actually gets THAT ridic, but still XD

Date: 2016-08-30 07:38 pm (UTC)Rainbow Serpent sounds delightful.
The Digimon tree area is pretty. I like the cherry blossoms haha.
I dunno why, but the big bridge thing you talk to Franco on reminds me of the bridge from the beginning of Twilight Princess. Hmmm.
How often do the characters change up what they say? Or is it pretty much the same thing for a majority of the game?
LUCIA IS NOW MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. Such shade! That is a queen of shade right there.
Nana sleeping in the middle of the day
Not that it’s creepy that you’re in her house, watching her sleep or anything >.>
…epoch-making? That’s a…strange word choice.
Liberta has an ear fetish.
I mean…the proof is like, right there. It’s hard not to think so.
I love how this is supposed to be a dictionary but half of the entries are full of opinions or weird interjections by Liberta
It’s subtle characterizations like that which really make up video games for me. That’s how I can come to feel so attached to characters who, to other people, might seem underdeveloped or plain. Stuff like that always makes me stupidly giddy.
Max is so sweet. <3 And Jonathan sure isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Of course, the fact he’s willing to walk around with that gaudy shirt and pompadour combo, I have to assume he’s not afraid of much of anything.
You dumbass, that won't work. The magical Boom Boom Sprit is gonna kill everyone with the big mountain unless a robot learns to be human by growing crops inside a ruins... BE REALISTIC
Agreed. It’s obvious Life just caught Marco peeing in the corner, and he was too ashamed to admit it, so he came up with this—frankly ridiculous—story to save face.
Max stops you and tells you that you're going to miss the dancing, the best part!
!!!!!!!
Then Marcia is like "EW NO" and rushes you out
GODDAMNIT.

Date: 2016-08-30 11:44 pm (UTC)I hate doors like that in games though, like “oh it is sealed with a mysterious power” … nuuuuu let me in!
Also I am actually a bit scared of that serpent sculpture thing? It's quite...ominous XD
I think most fruit does actually come about in autumn IRL lol not that I know much, but we have apple and pear and cherry trees and they're mostly autumn. The berries all come out in summer but the fruit trees are autumn.
I am disappointed by the lack of centaur as well, as they are super hot. But it says constellation so maybe at night it's in the sky or Moonlight made a 'sculpture' out of lights or sth.
I feel like Dr Hope is maybe trying to create a human substitute lol but why? Why not just have a human if your robot is going to have all these human characteristics and qualities and sweaty defects XD
I love the fire shrine. I would go there all the time if I was in that game XD Then the spirits would spare me XD
omg that dictionary... pics when you get to 'nose' ROFL
Max is cute, I didn't like him at first but aww. He just misses his wifey <3
I think Chuck looks like he has secret anxiety and all kinds of weird
hotneuroses hahaYou dumbass, that won't work. The magical Boom Boom Sprit is gonna kill everyone with the big mountain unless a robot learns to be human by growing crops inside a ruins... BE REALISTIC
LOL OMG LOL FOREVER

Date: 2016-08-31 01:04 am (UTC)Here's an example of the music that plays in Dr Hope's house and some of the other houses. Some places are just silent, too...: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNh5KQm4PM ... It definitely has a very... somber feeling to it, right?
The characters change what they say based on the character and where you are in the game... like Masami said the same stupid thing for like the first five weeks no matter what/when. Jessica seems to have a new poem every time I visit her in poetry class. But Liberta says the same thing every time he's there. Overall, they don't change all that often, really. But you're really not intended to visit the town nearly as much as I do lol. Plus even when you do visit, you don't get a chance to talk to everyone because it takes forever trying to run around and find them. I think in general, people have certain times they'll always say the same thing (Liberta's "don't bug me when I'm drinking") and then times when they'll say their newest, most relevant thing, which may be related to the story or weather or whatever. It might change more, like a lot of new stuff for new seasons...? But I don't remember it changing much. This is kind of a problem all Harvey games have, though... Newer ones are getting more creative with it, though.
I LOVE WATCHING THE PEOPLE SLEEP LOL
re: subtle characterations -- SAME SAME. I absolutely love stuff like this, and games that do this well become instant favs.
AND YEAH I WAS SO MAD WHEN MARCIA MADE ME LEAVE UGGGHHH I WANTED TO DANCE WITH MAX D:

Date: 2016-08-31 02:32 am (UTC)This entire game is ~mysterious doors~ everywhere LOL. Man they pissed me off so bad in Chrono Trigger though because you'd encounter them everywhere and couldn't open them til way later in the game and it's like haha you expect me to remember where all those random doors were???????????
The serpent thing is pretty cool, it's actually REALLY REALLY HUGE, like without the buggy it takes like an hour to walk around the whole thing XD (an hour in-game... which like... every second is 2 in-game minutes or something, the time goes SO FAST it's kinda stressful)
Oh yeah I guess autumn is fruit/harvest time that makes sense LOL.
yeah maybe it has something to do with lights, I gotta go back at night and try to see it. But it doesn't get dark til the night bell and you have very limited time to get to bed after that and I don't want to be out wandering around somewhere XD
Because after you create the human substitute you can create a whole harem of them that are loyal and attracted to you but seem just like humans but you can make sure you 'weed out' bad human characteristics because you can program them LOLLLL
Yeah fire shrine is spiffy, I go in there sometimes just to run around even though there's nothing in there to actually do/interact with XD
LOLOL I hope Nose is in there, he seems to just put whatever the heck he thinks of at the moment, so he might only do ear because it's his thing XDDD I hope he has a 'mustache' entry. I never did the dictionary much before so most of this will be new to me :D
Yeah when I first played this game and saw Max I thought he looked generic/annoying but he's actually a really cute and interesting guy and I love him a lot XD I added him tot he humpchart lmfaooooo along with Moonlight, Jessica, and Chuck. I like other characters like Masami and Marco too but I don't have the same strong feeling about them and feel like I need to go hunt them down in the game and discover all their secrets XD
I have a feeling Chuck has no idea how to be a mayor and just pretends LOL but he doesn't realize that everyone is kinda onto him (or at least Liberta is XD)
