TMGC Grail

Recently I've been asked by at least two people (!) what I would like as a gift and also have been asked what my "Holy Grail Tamagotchi" is. I don't really have a Holy Grail as my collection is still fairly small (about 15 pets right now) and the things I want are still reasonably obtainable so it's more just a matter of waiting for availability/money. So here's my Tamagotchi Grail. Not a Holy Grail, just a regular Grail LOL Or in other words, the Tamas I'm looking for the most:

US Yellow Tamagotchi Angel

The Tamagotchi Angel got four releases -- Japan wave 1, Japan wave 2, US, and EU versions. The yellow Angel was exclusive to US and Europe; the only color that Japan didn't get. I really want one of these to round out my collection of Angels so I can have all the colors (the others are pink, blue, and white) and one of each regional release, but I can only find ones without boxes, and I want to have the box as well, of course.

"Sorrel" Mori de Hakken!! Tamagotch

Mori de Hakken was the first Tamagotchi release of 1998, comes in brown (sorrel), and you raise bug creatures! This is one that's just a bit out of my price range, but I keep looking for them. Finding them can be difficult because people list them as all kinds of different things... they go by Tamagotchi Garden, Tamagotchi Forest, Moirno Tamagotchi, and Mori de Hakken Tamagotch... so you really have to look around to find a good one. One with the original casing can run up toward $80 which is why I don't have one yet :P

Tamagotchi Smart 25th Anniversary Set

This one is relatively new and not hard to find, the problem is again, the price. These are the new Tamagotchi smartwatches which come with DLC chips. They run over $100, with the cheapest ones coming in around $125... if you can actually find one listed for that much somewhere. These will only get rarer and more expensive as time goes on, so now is actually a perfect time to pick one up.

Deviltch no Tamagotch

This is a more rare Japanese-exclusive Tamagotchi which comes in four shell colors. One day I'd like to have them all, and there's not one that I particularly want more than the others first. Finding a working one in the box, though, runs over $800 usually. They're also known as "Devilgotchi" "Tamagotchi Devil" among other things.

Magic White Tamagotchi On

This is one of the newest models of Tamagotchi, and the Magic White shell is exclusive to Amazon.com in limited supply. The problem with this one is availability. Some days they have them in stock and you can just... buy one at MSRP ($59.99), and then other days they're sold out and you can buy them from sellers for like $150. It's weird. I'd like to get one before they permanently go out of stock, and while the Tamagotchi On app on phones is still running as well so I can play with the connectivity.

Tamagotchi>>>iD Conan Version

This version of the Tamagotchi iD was only released as a giveaway for subscribers to Weekly Shonen Sunday to celebrate their 3000th issue. The theme is Detective Conan, and it has special programming to include a Detective Conan location in the game. They're limited in number and were only given away for this event, so they're super hard to find. Often they sell for thousands of dollars; it's considered the "rarest Tamagotchi of them all" as far as ones us plebs could get their hands on. There's actually some really cool old ones that were only given to shareholders or whatever, but finding those is virtually impossible.

How to buy Tamagotchi

Most of my Tamagotchi shopping is done on eBay, and you can basically just type in the name of what you want but there's a lot of fakes and mislabeled stuff on there, so it's good to have pictures and know what you're looking for. I recently bought a first wave Angel and it ended up being a second wave Angel which look quite similar other than a very small detail. It was actually the seller that mixed them up and sent the wrong one (not the one that was in the listing). It was actually in the first wave packaging, but it was the 2nd wave device (which looks the same from the outside). So you have to be careful about stuff like that.

There's also JAPAN YOU WANT which sells mostly Japanese stuff, and has an entire section for Tamagotchi. Their stuff is reliable and quality, and the prices LOOK nice, but they charge big shipping, so it ends up being about the same you pay elsewhere. It's just a nice place to find reliable listings where you don't have to worry about things being listed wrong or being fake.

Also it's important to note that Tamagotchi is sometimes called "Tamagotch" (the original Japanese didn't use the "i" at the end) so you can find listings who list them that way, as well.

(Oh and there's this special Pac-Man Tama that I keep overlooking because I think "I can just get this later" but it will eventually be out of stock and makes a great add-on to gifts LMFAO)
