OK FIRST OFF... Wanna know how to get TONS OF ITEMS from each fight???

Look at this, PAGES of items can be yours!!

Give Aeterna the "Oblivion" Spritnite, and give Julienne "Jump." Julienne comes with Jump so you just need to get Oblivion, which you'll have to put minimal effort into.
This will let you do the combo "Astral Bloom"
Get a pre-emptive attack and have Setsuna use Prayer at the beginning of the battle if you don't have full MP.

Just wait for the enemies to get close together... If you're waiting a long time to the point Aeterna gets a second Momentum Ball Thing, have her cast slow on some enemies so you can get the Debuff Kill.

And wha-boom!

It hits all the enemies surrounding the target 5 times (with a bunch of extra damage if you Momentum it), and each hit counts as each of the elements.

Then it makes a pretty flower~

And then everything dies and watch the red words fly~~ You'll get Momentum Kill, Link Kill, Fire Kill, Water Kill, Light Kill, Time Kill, and Shadow Kill... and likely Over Kill, too. And Debuff Kill if you cast Slow while waiting for the enemies to get together. You'll get a TON of items and fill up your charts for all the enemies very quickly. The only kill type you'll need to try for is Exact (and Debuff if you didn't get it).

Anyway, there are these ranodm like... areas in the game that have like... just one person in them? And they're always like so pointless and weird.

"Xbox, Teleport."

I went to this weird ruins thing. It was ALMOST interesting to explore... the first place in the game that wasn't completely straightforward. It was still pretty simple, though...
I like having Fake Auron in front because he's so BIG compared to the other characters and it feels good to control him <3 <3

He fell down and we had this lame-ass cutscene with him. It was kinda cool but it dragged on way too long and I already realized what was going to be said really early, and I'm the kind of person who NEVER guesses stuff, so that means it was way too predictable if even I could predict it.
Basically it reveals that Nidr is Setsuna's dad, and that Setsuna's aunt died on her pilgrimage due to illness... because... she was in love with Nidr but he was in love with Setsuna's mom so... that made... her aunt... decide to fake not having an illness and then she died??????????? Yeah, it was REALLY STUPID. This game is really bad at story like... this is one of the most poorly-written games I've ever played. It's like on the level of Enchanted Arms if you don't take the comedy route... Enchanted Arms might even be better like... wow. Like they just throw story elements together from a cliche book and don't even try to make them fit together in a coeherent way, nor do they build up to them ... Here's another example:

There's... absolutely NO foreshadowing or character development that leads up to Reaper questioning the group. He just... SUDDENLY does it for no reason. Like even within the event itself they didn't even really do anything he just STARTS SPOUTING THIS and it's like??? What???

Then Aeterna has a ~cool heroic moment~ which... I normally love these, but she has had absolutely no personality or story up to this point in the game. She just kinda randomly disappears a little later, too? So I guess we might finally learn her story but... this scene is not exciting because... who ... cares... it's like two completely undeveloped characters that barely even exist in the story, having some kind of emotional scene that only makes sense to have... with established characters that the audience cares about...????

Anyway, later Setsuna is against killing Reaper, no real surprise there, but it was still kinda cool. Because we've grown to know and like Setsuna at this point, so her stand here is actually meaningful, unlike the thing with Aeterna before.

Also, the game needed a reason to have this character in a dangerous place, because like the rest of the game, they just make up the most lazy excuse for why you have to fight more monsters/go through the next dungeon, and now it was to find a character... but how does he even survive there? I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE HE RUBS PISS AND SHIT ALL OVER HIS BODY good story great, print it.
Anyway, I thought the story was going to pick up but it kinda fell apart again. Like, the whole things with Kir and Julienne were really good, and then after that they were like "Yeah, IDK, we already put so much effort into this game, just do whatever!" like I think the writers worked for 2 days on minimum wage or something, and they wrote Kir and Julienne the first day and already gave up on the rest of the game after that.
Also they have been reusing the same assets for the entire game, as you can see from the screencaps. Basically the whole game you're in one of three different environments: snowy outdoorsy, icefloor cave, or ruins. And if it's a town, it's snowy outdoorsy with some buildings, and all the building interiors look the same, too. I can't believe how lazily this game was developed, and to charge $40 for it... Pokemon games go for $40. This game is about $5-10 worth of content at best. Even Ys games have more content than this, and they're tiny.
The difficulty did spike a little and now I actually have to watch myself when I'm trying to farm Exact Kills. If I don't have to worry about Exact Kills, it's still really easy though.
This new mountain area is annoying because I don't have Julienne or Aeterna who are the backbone of my team at this point. And don't ask me to explain why they are not there because it made no sense. Aeterna literally disappeared with no explanation (like she just... faded away... no explanation, and then everyone was like "OH NO she's gone! Oh well, we gotta keep moving!") and then Julienne like... started doing the weird crap again that she was supposed to have been 'fixed' by the stupid medicine thing before, and then was like "I can't help anymore bye" and just walked off like it was all so rushed and weird and bad and lol this game.
So I really am annoyed going through this mountain now because I like getting all the Kill types/item drops as I go, but I can't because I'm missing some of the elements because Julienne and Aeterna are gone. But we're supposed to be getting airship soon at least.
I'm enjoying the game, but it's also extremely underwhelming and disappointing. If I had paid for this, I would have felt ripped off. The only reason I don't feel all that bad is because I got it as a gift and the person who gifted it to me really likes the game and we're able to enjoy it together, so it's not really like they wasted their money. Personally though I could never justify $40 for a game like this. Even $20 I would feel was a stretch. I'd warn people not to buy it if it was $20 unless they were prepared for the mediocrity and were going to REALLY enjoy it for some reason. $40 is a joke. Even if you like the game, you were scammed out of money there. This game just isn't worth it. You can tell it was cheaply and poorly thrown together. The developers did not care about creating a good product.
I tried to look up fanart for this game and almost none exists. There's a few little things here and there. For porn I found literally 2 Aeterna pics and that's it. Was hoping to see how Fake Auron looked in other people's styles. Maybe I'll have to draw him. I'm not really into this game or him enough to want to draw him really though??? But I did find an official art where everyone looks a little different than their regular art at least. There's really not much art for this game at all (official or fan).

Date: 2016-08-29 08:36 pm (UTC)LOL CANNOT COMMENT ON ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE THIS.
You should draw Fake Auron. I always get really disappointed when there's zero fanart of stuff I like... like Drummer Boy rofl
but in Star Ocean there was nothing of Adray and loads of all the other characters and it made me sad :(

Date: 2016-08-29 09:13 pm (UTC)And yeah that is pretty much why I wanna draw him. If I had found art of him I'd probably be a lot less motivated to LOL. I'm not super attached to anyone in this game really. When I'm not playing I don't even really think of them LOL.
