Well, I subscribed to Triller and it seems they don't keep VODs of old PPVs. Sad sad sad. So I am resorting to a 2GB mp4 download on Internet Archive. Let's hope I don't get a virus! Only 2GB for a 3-hour PPV... I'm expecting it to be pretty low quality. Which is fine~ I just want to be able to watch it.
If it doesn't work, I might just have to read recaps and catch up on NWA that way :(
While I wait for the download (2GB on slow internet = like 2 hour download for a 2GB file XD) I almost feel like subscribing to a service to catch up on another promotion XD WWE and AEW will require cable or Sling or something, so I'll be dropping $40 on those so they're not really an option right now. It leaves NJPW or TNA really to catch up on, both of which are about $10 to sub.
Looking over the rosters, neither seems SUPER appealing atm. I mean as in no hot rasslers. NJPW has Royce Isaacs, and TNA has Mustafa Ali. Both are old favorites of mine from their time in other promos. But that's... one wrestler each lol.
TNA is weird and tries too hard to be edgy/hardcore and recruits like wrestlers with questionable backgrounds. It's really not my fav promotion. NJPW I've never gotten super into so I'm not so familiar with it, but the circuits are like mostly tag matches and there's not much story because it's treated more like a 'real' sport in Japan. And I kinda live for the stories lmfao.
Well, the download finished (seems legit!) while I was dicking around thinking about what to watch and looking into alternate sources for watching Smackdown and Dynamite, and now it's a bit late to start a 3 hour ppv, so I'm still thinking of watching another show in the next 2 hours XD
Ah I completely forgot about ROH. I'm interested in them, too. Looking at lists and stuff, it seems MLW is considered in the same tier as ROH/TNA/NWA? Maybe I'll have to get into that, too...
It's been so long since I've been in the rasslin' scene and I never was super hardcore so I'm not even sure where to start :,)

Sooo I'm really deep into the rasslin thing. I've moved beyond just watching WWE and watch a bunch of other stuff now. I have a weekly schedule so I have at least two shows to watch every weekday LOL.
Here's my impressions (along with my crushes from them) of the promotions I've been watching, in order from my favorite to least favorite:

Other than those, I'm wanting to get into some other stuff like NJPW, but I don't really know where to start with that. And I kinda want to check out ROH but... same predicament. I don't think ROH has a weekly show or anything like that, and then NJPW seems... sporadic and more airs like tournaments or something? I don't know. And just other indies stuff I wanna try getting into, too, but it's harder to really access this stuff since it's not televised, so I'm not sure where to start. There's an indy wrestling twitch channel that just shows stuff all day, but there's no context and I don't know what anything is.
Also something I'm really learning about wrestling is how real it is (I knowwwww that sounds really stupid but) ... Like, so much of wrestling is just getting hurt on purpose, rather than pretending to be hurt. I mean they intentionally do mostly things that shouldn't cause severe injury (even though injuries end up being common) or kill someone, but a lot of stuff they do really hurts, and their job is to just take the pain. Things where they get cut up by glass, barbed wire, whatever, is really happening, which I was surprised to learn. Basically if someone is bleeding, it's because they intentionally cut themselves up for show. There's no fake blood. Which I think is wild. And especially for indy stuff, some of these people do stuff that honestly is near killing themselves just for the reactions.
Basically, despite being staged and choreographed, they're still just actually hurting each other for show. Which is wild. And from watching lots of BTS stuff and interviews, I'm starting to learn just how much they really go through.
The age of trying to pretend it's actually real is long over, so you hear candid accounts of what's actually happening. A surprising thing to me recently is Joey Janela was talking about how he got his head stapled with a staple gun during a match like... they easily could have just not loaded the stapler since it's not like anyone is close enough to notice a detail like if a staple came out or not, but they still just legit stapled his head. And that's one of the lighter things he talked about. I'm honestly surprised he's alive hahaha.
But yeah, it makes me appreciate (and fear) the industry a lot more. I tried explaining this to Dennis but he was just like "you know it's fake, right?" and I'm just like UGH YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYING hahahaha.
I want to like force my friends to like the rassl so I can fangirl over it with them but alas it is not to be. I am constantly shoving it down Nans's throat though hahaha. I kinda feel bad for her.
Just kinda.
But yeah that's my wrestling rambling for today. The main reason I wrote all this is because I don't have anything to watch right now since the Monday stuff hasn't started yet (and I watch most of that on Tuesday anyway) and I wanted to make a list of crushes lmfao.
