Soooo from the humble sale I bought a couple games for myself since I haven't really gotten anything for myself in a while and my life has been nothing but suffering for a while now so I treated myself XD I got really cheap things though, along with Tropico 4 which is free.
The games I got were Rochard (which I already have on PS3 but I want it on PC too plus it came with the DLC and art book and it was only like $1 lol) and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventure or whatever it's called... the tie-in with the Disney Channel cartoon thing LOLLLL which I... got for a really stupid reason but I also thought it might be easy/relaxing (which it is for the most part, but too tedious to play for a long time at once).
Actually I kinda got both of them for the same reason now that I think about it.
So, Rochard is a game about... gravity puzzles or something but the reason I got this game is ...

This is the main character LOLOLOLOL

His ship is even named Big Daddy :P Bascially, he's a space miner with a super sexy southern drawl, but he and his team are about to get fired because all the asteroids the company keeps sending them to are drive, and the miners are getting blamed (I don't remember the name of the stuff they're mining for though XD)

His ID No is 90210 XDDD But yeah, it becomes apparently quickly that the company doesn't care much about these people because all the equipment is faulty and dangerous and stuff.

Basically the game is just some basic platforming revolving around gravity puzzles. There are two gravity modes (regular and low-grav) and you have this like tractor beam thing that can pick up, drop, and toss options. And you have a flashlight lol.

He even references his mustache ... he cares about his mustache :) :) :)

There's a lot of cheesy humor. But during cutscenes you get to see John up close <3

He also references his butt 8))))))))))))

And look at that belly :) :) :) :) :) :)
Basically Rocahrd is pretty much my dream guy XDDDD And it's a whole game about him :D It was made in Unity (the engine I use right now), and has a really cool atmosphere (I love those kinda 'quiet/eerie outer space' type games, but it's also one of those like... futuristic/space games but where people act like regular/today people.) The intro to the game is a pretty good illustration of the general aesthetic of the game. Though that has music so imagine a lot of the game also being that kinda eerie quiet space atmosphere, too. It's really cool.

And now for Pac-Man! First off I just want to say that I really like the reboot Pac-Man... he's super cute!! His voice and "personality" is kinda annoying, but it's not terrible. He's just like a normal 'kids show main boy' character.
But... as for the reason I bought this game... is because once I actually saw this cartoon and............................

This is a character in it. X______________X I know, that is a REALLY REALLY embarrassing and stupid reason to buy this game because like... not only is this a minor/pointless character but... he's literally just a green sphere with a mustache and hairand a phallic nose ......

......................................... and when he was in the school I spent WAY too long trying to get a screencap that made it look like Pac-Man was giving him a blowjob I hate myself so much LOLOLOL Basically I had to do the bite/eat thing while facing him but if I was too close Pac-Man would just push to the side and if I was far enough away it was really hard to actually line up with him and out of like 200 screenshots this was the only one that was reasonably close someone please kill me.
But yeah the bite/eat attack is like your primary attack, and it's like... a lunge attack too? Pac-Man kinda like dashes forward a bit while biting, and you use this to eat enemies.

As for the gameplay, it's a pretty basic 3D platformer. Definitely a more modern feel, with everything being fairly straightforward. I was a bit disappointed, because I read reviews before buying it (I really didn't buy it solely for mustache Pac LOL, but that was the reason I even considered it in the first place LOL) because a lot of reviews were saying it was like an homage to the collectathon platformers of the N64 era, and many people cited Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64...
But it's not like that at all. The stages are straightforward with very little exploration or path variation, a la Super Mario Galaxy (more straightforward than even that, though). There's not really anything to collect -- you get a fruit at the end of a stage for clearing it. That's it. There are some random items you can collect around the stages, but they're not hidden and importantly they're not unique. Basically everything is just like coins in Super Mario games. They're everywhere and if you get enough you get a reward, but it doesn't really matter if you hunt them out or not because they're everywhere. The game doesn't even seem to keep a record of your highest number collected from each stage, so you can't really know or prove that you've found everything in the stage.
But yeah, there are dots, which you have a counter for but I don't think they do anything whatsoever??????? Then there are fruits which you get for completing a stage for the first time, so there's a set number of each. Once you get so many of each fruit type, you can play an arcade game at school (though I don't have enough for any of those yet, but I'm kinda excited to see them). Then there are eyes, which you get by eating ghosts. Get enough eyes and you get a 1-Up. That's it. Then there are tokens, which I'm not 100% sure what they do yet but I assume you're going to have to spend them to play the arcade games. Then there's these like rainbow ball things which if you get enough you get an upgrade to your health. The problem with this is that they are not unique, so you could literally just play the first stage over and over until you have max HP. (I did not do that, but you could).
That's all I can remember. There's also something I'm supposed to be picking up that when you get enough, you power up these orbs and it will open up the temples? (which are the various worlds you go to in the game). Oh, maybe that's what the dots are?
The game just assumes you watch the cartoon, which I don't, so I have no idea what's going on. They just refer to concepts and characters as if you know what it is. So maybe [--holy crap this is a really fun football game XDDD--] that weird word they said for the things I'm supposed to be collecting to power up the orbs is the dots LOL. And I would only know that from watching the cartoon.

One kinda neat thing about the game is that Pac-Man now has various forms he can turn into like Super Mario has. Here's Ice Pac, which can shoot ice beams. This is like... almost pointless, because your attacks all seek enemies if you are targeting them (it just kinda auto-targets an enemy when you're close enough and facing it, otherwise you're probably going to miss the enemy lol). So there's no point in freezing it because you can just eat it. There are a few novelty uses, like freezing a fountain so you can climb on it, but this is mandatory and you get the thing to turn into Ice Pac right in front of it. So really it's just superfluous.

Fire Pac is slightly more useful -- the Fireball can target from a much wider range than the normal Chomp (whereas the Ice Blast had pretty much the same range and limitations as Chomp). It can not only go farther than Chomp, but it can target above or below Pac, too. This is REALLY useful. You also lose the ability to use Boo!, which causes all ghosts near Pac to become blue scared ghosts, which makes them stop attacking and slowly move away, so you can try to eat as many as possible. So Fire Pac is pretty well-balanced and cool. If they do more with the freezing mechanic, I can see the point of Ice Pac (like maybe make me freeze an enemy then push them onto a button or something).

Chameleon Pac is really weird. It looks weird. Chameleon Chomp is similar to chomp in that it's a way to eat ghosts a short distance from you, though the range is a little better than regular Chomp I think. But it also can hook onto special hook points and you swing from them. The problem with this is that they're always arranged in the same way so that there is no skill involved in swinging on them. It's actually really boring because it's kinda slow. I never use Invisibility because it's pointless. The enemies are all so slow and the way they're positioned that if you want to get past them you can just walk past them. They're not going to chase you or catch up with you.

Granite Ball Pac is weird. It's freaking HUGE. And its nose retracts into its body when you roll; it's funny. Basically it turns the game into a ball-rolling minigame. It's kinda hard to control. I actually didn't realize there was a brake until looking at this screencap just now... oops... I must have forgotten after reading it LOL.

Rubber Pac is basically you being a bouncy rubber ball with Pac-Man face. You can wall-jump with it, and you get a ground-pound attack that destroys enemies nearby. Even walking is a weird bouncy. This is a pretty fun/interesting form and the stage design that revolved around it was pretty neat.

There was this segment where there was basically a vertical maze, and you had to wall jump to get yourself through it. And then there were these buttons on the wall that would rotate the entire maze, and your goal was to get to the top right corner. The only thing that made it not fun was the fact that when I finished the maze, it was the end of the stage, but for some reason three times in a row, the little animation that showed the cherries to me also made me glitch through the floor or something and I died. So I had to keep redoing this. I got good at doing it fast, though...
This was the only time I encountered any kind of glitch or anything in the game so far though.

If you finish a stage that you've already cleared, you get a token instead of a fruit. There's a really cute little animation of Pac flipping the coin and catching it XD I really like that part.
But yeah, other than that one wall-jump maze, none of the stages have been very interesting in design so far. There were really generic ice levels (I always hate ice levels -- and after the first little stage, there were TWO ice stages in a row...), a 'forest maze' level that was NOT a maze at all... it was just a winding passage to the end. There were a couple of small branches that were dead ends with an item at the end, and you had to push buttons to open them, so they were even obvious branching paths. If you could even call them that. There was also a "boss" at the end of the stage, but the only thing you had to do was walk around behind it and chomp its tail???? And you won??? Maybe it wasn't meant to be a boss lol idk.
The slime temple levels have been really awful so far. They're all long but not particularly interesting, and the Granite Ball Pac is so boring to play. It's really slow and clunky (intentionally) and generally all you do is roll into things. I like when you have to roll over narrow bridges with parts that fall out from under you or platforms that end up turning on you, but these moments were very rare and most of it was just rolling around a big area bumping switches and enemies. There's no challenge or anything because you defeat everything just by touching it, and you can't even fall off the edges or anything...??
I played a bit more of this than Rochard. I've played Rochard before so I didn't really have a lot of curiosity about what it was like, but I hadn't played this Pac-Man game before and wanted to see what all it had to offer so I played the whole first world, and the first couple stages of the slime temple (second world). The next temple seems to be fire-themed, so I hope that's more fun than this slime temple...
Also this game is really exciting (er, the football game I mean) !!! I've been kinda slowly writing this entry during breaks (in American football there are constant breaks in the action, it's a lot of start-and-stop lol) and it's just been so fun XD There's still 8 minutes left and I have a feeling it's going to be a fight to the finish. A lot of exciting interceptions and close calls and stuff like that, Denver coming back from being a couple scores behind... but Carolina has been generally performing better and can easily get the lead back.
I don't really root for teams when I watch?? Even when my fav teams are playing, I still get excited when the other team does well and exciting plays happen... I'm completely happy with losing if the game is fun to watch. In the same way, I'm very disappointed in my teams winning if it's just an overwhelming victory. I like seeing exciting matches more than anything XD
omfg I just went to a Pac-Man wiki to figure out the name of the President green thing and this story of this cartoon is wild:
Years ago, Spheros' little brother Betrayus formed a powerful army and threatened to take over Pac-World and stomp out any resistance that stood in his way. This would lead to many casualties (such as the massacre of the Yellow Ones),
"masscare of the Yellow Ones" wtffff and I'm pretty sure these means yellow Pacs, like Pac-Man LOL.
