OK so I haven't posted in a while because of things, which are still kinda ehh, but I need to ramble about rasslin and like literally no one I know cares so uhh, here we go.
OK so this week-or-so in WWE was wayyyy too wtf. I'm not going to talk about TLC specifically because I already dropped like 400 tweets about that.
The SD siege on Raw was like??? wtf??? And like, it was so ooc for like half of them to even be participating in that (WHYYYYY was Nakamura there LOL) and like... yeah this was terrible.
And uh now there's this whole anti-Alexa-Bliss thing which is ridiculous because she is great and it's being led by Mickie James which like... she is cool but like... wtf I love Alexa and she really did deserve the championship she earned and defended thus far???
And then I already thought the JJ vs Elias thing was bad enough at TLC (WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR GULAK) but they had to CONTINUE it??????? I'm glad at least Elias could smash a guitar over JJ because JJ is sooooo boring and annoying and Elias is great. But please make that story end already because it's not interesting or anything...
And uh since Neville quit, the entire cruiserweight division has gone to shit which is terrible because that is like the entire reason I even watch this stuff. But like... you can tell they are really desperate for stories since all their plans disappeared suddenly because the current story makes NO SENSE.
And Gulak even referred to Enzo as a "visionary" which is ridiculous, like... Enzo is everything Gulak stands against which is a big deal since that's his entire gimmick is being a "politician" that has a no-tolerance policy for crap like Enzo and it's like... why... are they friends? Him saying Enzo's intro speech thing was fun, though, but like... definitely wish it was in another context. And yeah other than Daivari planning to possibly manipulate Enzo for his own gain, I can't understand why ANYONE would ally with him, but he has a whole group of lackeys now. And they're not even types to be lackeys in the first place, much less to ENZO. OF ALL PEOPLE.
So Kalisto has his little squad now, too, which is cool, because it's pretty much all the best performers and it's very high-flying/lucha-libre styled which is great.
Um and then GentyJack like... now that Neville is gone he is my fav but like... his whole evil story is like... idk. Everything that made him fun is gone now and now he just like... wears suits a lot and looks cute. But like... his silly and acrobatic ring technique was a HUGE part of his appeal and now he's just another brawler like Kendrick?????????????????????????????????????? Why???? I'm totally cool with his alliance with Kendrick and I've fine with his heel turn I just... wish he would do stuff in the ring other than like punching. Because he can do so much cool stuff that no one else did...
And uh then today like I guess WWE released multiple superstars at once including Emma who was like... becoming prominent in the story again so it's like... why???? And all the rumors about it make no sense and like... I can't imagine she quit because she just posted a broken heart emoji and then went silent on twitter and I don't feel like that's a thing you do when you quit lol. And people are saying it's because she fought too good during her fights against Asuka but like... ????????????? Would that not have been WWE's decision in the first place??????????????????????? I don't understand LOL or maybe I don't understand exactly how these things are choreographed, like, do they just book the fights and then let the talent work out how it's going to go in the ring? I mean I realize they were really hyping up Asuka's debut and it's true that she didn't really get to shine as a new wrestler but like... the Emma vs Asuka fights were really great and exciting? And like I'm pretty sure everyone loves Asuka anyway so like... yeah IDK LOL.
And then Gentyjack like replied to a tweet from an NXT rassler who made a bad "apology" about a tweet mocking Emma for losing her job, which was cool that he stood up against the fake apology, but at the same time he did the grammar shaming thing and like... WWE employs people from all kinds of backgrounds and education levels and prescriptive literacy is not a required or expected skill of WWE talent. Like, if this was a politician or journalist or something, critiquing grammar makes sense, but just insulting someone for not having perfect grammar when they're a wrestler is kind of shitty. Not to mention the Jack himself makes a lot of grammatical errors in his tweets anyway???
But yeah it's hard to really gauge how WWE treats their talent BTS because it's so secretive and rumors are overblown and super ridiculous because prowres is probably the worst fandom I've ever encountered, but it seems like it's probably not perfect back there, but one thing I do think is great about the WWE is that they give a lot of opportunities to people who had very few coming in. They're a company with a huge public spotlight and they are willing to hire homeless people with criminal records to give them a chance. Even if WWE makes a lot of greedy decisions, that single chance leads to a ton of other opportunities and is a chance that most other companies, especially ones as big as WWE, would never offer. And yeah, I think when you work for a company who takes young talent off the street and gives them an income and a purpose and a platform to do good for their community instead of fighting against it to survive, I think it's super gross to shit on those people for making some spelling mistakes or whatever. You don't know what life they've led and they very well could never have had access to the same education as you and like...
Yeah basically I'm super mad that GentyJack would stoop to that. Even though I realize being ~proper~ is like... his gimmick or whatever but like. His current gimmick is also being snapped and obsessed with "cruelty" and no forgiveness so standing up for Emma in the first place and being all SJW on twitter is completely OOC so you can't blame that part of his tweet on gimmick anyway.
But yeahhhhh I ranted wayyyy too much about the GentyJack thing because I was originally going to just complain about all the story direction that I didn't like, but then I didn't post this and this morning woke up to this whole Emma thing soooooo yeah lol. The Emma thing actually happened like yesterday morning but I wasn't on twitter or anything all day because I was watching the foobles and stuff.
I used to do the grammar thing, too, though, so I... get it, I guess, and GentyJack is younger than me so I mean I realize that he probably just doesn't realize how this is problematic. I replied to his tweet but like... you can't say much in a tweet so I doubt it will be very educational lol. Plus I mean, he's pretty popular so he gets swarmed with replies anyway and I doubt he has the time to read them all.
Anyway, not like, saying it's OK for him to do it, just that I'm not going to let it ruin my enjoyment of his character lol. Unlike Enzo who is too shitty IRL to even like :) Like, my first fav turned out to be complete trash, my second fav quit, and I'm not about to lose my third fav over a single misguided tweet lol.
Speaking of, though, I've been really thinking a lot about Enzo and like... I super hate the actual actor but I still love the character...? But like, in prowres they try to blur the lines between the characters and the talent, and there's a lot of crossover so a lot of the characters are based on the actual personality and creativity of the talent portraying them. And like, I really want to love Enzo as a character, but I just really can't bring myself to stomach Eric Arndt (nor should I try).
I loved Daivari before Enzo invaded the CW division, but "Daivari Dinero" has been fantastic. And I do like Enzo's influence on the other characters and story (uh, except for the whole recent stuff since Neville quit but really they are just desperate since like the main character of the entire show just disappeared suddenly so I'm expecting bad stories for a little while). And like, Enzo makes a great villain. I really loved the story they had going with Neville and everything, and Enzo brought a lot to the story of 205 Live (though it's a bit sad that the whole Kendrick/Gentyjack story has taken a backseat after Neville quit -- though I'm really glad that they are not part of the Zo Train. Not that I could ever imagine either of them seeing anything in Enzo but uh I thought that about Gulak and Nese and stuff so idek).
OK I am done rambling now. I'm getting kind of tired of typing.
