I need to post here more lol. I was all like YEAH ACTIVE LJ AGAIN and then now I never post.
I guess firstly I should say that I'm upset about the massacre in Aleppo earlier. I felt sick reading about it this morning. I don't really have anything to say about it other than it is very sad and hurts my soul and I'm afraid for the future of humanity. But I feel like I need to mention it at least...
I don't even remember what I've done since the last post but I've finished Pokey Sun and I'm almost done with the Pokedex. I just need a few exclusive things from the other version but no one else I know playing that version is near being able to get me those things lol. I don't really want to go on until I get them though because shiny charm and I want my eggs to have better shiny chance.
That's about it really, as far as games.
I haven't been working on the programming tut here because after getting pretty far into it and wanting to change the order of a couple articles, I realized quickly how horrible it would be to make changes in this format the more pages that existed.
So I'm working on creating an actual web site to host them. So I'm still working on it, but not in the way of creating content right now. So the uh 'test' release of the first project will be postponed a bit. Though it shouldn't take me too long to get it up and running now.
I know the very minimum about HTML (pretty much what I learned by being an LJ user lol and a tiny bit more from building a little web applet that was mostly JavaScript once...) and almost nothing about CSS (I just... understand it in concept but have never actually tried using it). I knew nothing at all about PHP (fortunately it's a lot like JS and now I'm wishing I would have just went with nodejs, but it's nice to learn new stuff I guess) and I only understand the syntax of SQL (like, as in making databases or whatever dynamically with it) but not how to actually implement it functionally. So on top of learning 4 programming languages all at once, I also had to teach myself how to use IIS to locally host the site for testing, including configuring PHP for it which was a huge hassle.
Now I'm wondering if I should have learned ASP instead of PHP or used server-side JS instead... it's all.. very... exhausting hahaha.
I've adjusted to Prozac pretty quickly. I don't feel like I'm having really any positive effects from it yet but I pretty much just had side effects for like two days. Prozacs are really cute, they're like little white teardropish shapes. They are way cuter than Wellbutrin. They're also a lot easier to swallow. they pretty much dissolve since they're not SR so they just get soft and I can chew it if I have to (I haven't had to though)
On KhanAcademy I've made a ton of progress. I finished all of algebra and trigonometry. Now I'm doing pre-calculus. Which includes probability and statistics which I hate. If Jimmy, Sally, Sarah, and Billy all want to sit in the theatre but Sally and Billy won't sit next to each other because they had a fight, how many seating arrangements can you make??? LOL. I really hate it... I think I'm getting the hang of it, though.
In Imperial SaGa, I ended up spending my Kr on an event where you could get Dantarg or Kzinssie. I got neither. I am very upset lol. I've been listening to science podcasts while grinding though which is good because I get to listen to things and the grinding doesn't feel tedious at all. Since I did buy two races with the kr, I got 22 characters. I'm keeping one, and the other 21 I'm going to grind to crowns and dump them in the jutsu facility. With the kind of strength Doll is displaying, I think that once I finally get access to the top jutsu, she will become very powerful... as will jutsu in general. It seems like late-game and with enough effort, jutsu will start to outshine waza. Maybe. I don't know. With waza you have to worry about accuracy so it takes a lot longer to power them up, but the base power starts higher. So I feel like with jutsu once you get them powered up to around waza level of strength, they will power up faster since you don't have to do accuracy and mess with the give-and-take of accuracy and power. You just constantly boost power.
SaGa SCARLET GRACE is coming out tomorrow. I don't know how long it will take for me to get my copy. I paid for the cheapest shipping which I think can take like... a month? Plus at this time of year it will probably take longer... so... I shouldn't get too excited about playing it any time soon lmao XD
Also I need to add Kahuna Hala and Buzzwole to the humpchart lolol.

Date: 2016-12-18 06:17 pm (UTC)Um, go and try then, dicktard - see if there's anywhere for you to live under the bombs and rubble and corpses. Never mind your complete lack of understanding of the words "ASYLUM SEEKER" or "REFUGEE". They're not just running away because they feel like it omg and yes that was a real thing a real person said.
I'm shit at all scripts. I used to be really good with CSS and HTML and could write whole lumps of website code in Notepad to make something really nice, but now...maybe if I did a bit of revision it would come back but I barely remember it. I remember div tags and things but not a lot else lmao
I had prozac for a while... didn't really change anything except I got more zombie-ish every day. So I wouldn't pay any real attention to stuff I was doing and would end up walking into doors and things lol my GP was like... maybe don't take that any more xD

Date: 2016-12-18 10:05 pm (UTC)And yeah people are just so stupid I can't even deal with them anymore. My circle of interaction is so tiny anymore lol.
I'm good at scripting and stuff in general, I just don't know how to set up a server and stuff because I don't understand anything about web development. I can write SQL scripts all day but I can't actually... use SQL because I don't know what you're supposed to do with it. I just know all the syntax and logic and stuff??? But yeah web development is a mystery to me so I'm fine learning the languages it's just... how I'm supposed to put it all together that I don't get. I don't know if this is even making sense though XD Well, I know how to use CSS and HTML, I've figured out how you use PHP. It's just SQL that I'm lost about. Every resource I find just teaches you how to do the syntax and like I'm completely fine with the actual scripting I just don't know where it goes LOL.
Prozac is making me fidgety but it's not bad. I guess. It's only been like... a couple weeks, not even. But I'm constantly bouncing my leg or something now. But that doesn't bother me so w/e. Hopefully it doesn't get worse though. I don't feel like it's really helping me or anything though.

Date: 2016-12-20 04:20 pm (UTC)I know you’re pretty talented when it comes to other languages, but I was curious as to how difficult it’ll be to play SG. Do you have to stop and look up what characters mean a lot, or do you generally just get the gist of whatever it is you’re seeing? One of the few import games I’ve ever played (untranslated) was Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen! 4 for the GCN, where the hardest part of the game was the tutorial of the story-mode because I had no idea what it was asking me to do haha.

Date: 2016-12-20 05:12 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'll have to look stuff up a lot, but after a while it gets less so, because games tend to repeat a lot of the same words. In the beginning there will likely be tons of weird vocabulary I don't know. I've played a couple RPGs in Japanese without playing an English counterpart first, and in the beginning there's so much I have to look up, but by the end I hardly have to touch a dictionary. Usually the things I need to look up are weird obscure things specific to the game, like when playing NeoAngelique, I had to look up all these words related to her like... spirit purification power and stuff. But by the end, since I knew all those things, I didn't have to look much up and could just go with it.
A game like Tokimeki Memorial or Harvest Moon where the vocabulary is mostly "daily life" stuff, I can finish a playthrough with only going to a dictionary a couple times, and even if I didn't I probably wouldn't miss much.
No matter what I'm playing, I still miss out on a lot of nuances, and there's still things I just... don't get. But I can at least read tutorials stuff like that, it's just that some details of the story will always be lost on me lol. But I've played through many games in Japanese now and have been able to get involved in the story enough to laugh and cry and stuff.
Scarlet Grace is apparently quite text-heavy, and there's no voices afaik (voices help A LOT) so it will probably be quite a headache in the beginning.
But uh, apparently having to look up words is something that even Japanese people have to deal with. Due to the nature of the writing system and language, it can be really hard to understand words through context sometimes and it's very possible to see, even as a fluent native speaker, characters you've never even seen before. I've watched Let's Plays and stuff by Japanese people playing Japanese games and there are times they can't even read what the game is saying. Even during one of the livestreams Square did of Scarlet Grace, the girl playing the game had to ask the game director what a word meant several times. I mean, this is something you run into more with these kinds of fantasy or sci-fi settings, where you're going to encounter really strange words that you don't encounter in daily life. Not to mention that fiction authors in Japanese like to just... invent their own words sometimes using some mashup of kanji (at least in manga they often write the definition out for you!)
Usually once I get past all the made up terms and common repeated weird words I'm pretty good. SaGa games are like FF in which there's a lot of repeated stuff between games, so like the names of the weapon and magic arts will be very similar between games, as well as a lot of repeated names of materials and stuff, so I'll at least be familiar with all that from playing all the SaGa games in Japanese to some extent.
Sometimes games are a bit complicated for me, though. I played Vagrant Story in Japanese and just couldn't get it. It was way too much dictionary time and I got frustrated. The systems were kinda complex with the targeting different body parts and stuff and the story was involved and political. (Though that was a while back, I might try it again. I've never played it in English)
The same with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner. That game uses so much kanji it looks like Chinese. (Seriously, they use kanji for things that no Japanese person would normally ever use kanji for lol) I was able to understand the tutorials for Devil Summoner but the story was pretty much gibberish and I think playing a SMT game while ignoring the story would be really missing out on a lot lol.
