soooooo romasaga3 is TOMORROW huzzah!!!!
Time to plan out my partyyyyyyy.
I swear I've planned out this party like 5 times before lmao. Can't hurt to do it again!!
I'm not going to try to cram every last type of weapon into the party again though.
First let's deal with Monika. For the sake of having her be the center of the harem, I think it's appropriate if her Charm level is as high as possible. Basically make her irresistible.
There are two paths for this. Starsign needs to be Saturn, as it's the only one that boosts Charm by 2. But both Foil and None as starting weapons will boost Charm by 2.
Saturn lowers Dex and Agility, so going for a Foil build would try to balance that back out, making all the stats sort of mediocre. None actually raises Dex a little more. There's a big boost to Mag, but Monika's Mag isn't anything amazing to start with. But one nice thing about Cha is the really high chance to charm enemies with lunar magic, so she'll be using plenty of magic anyway.
SATURN + SMALLBLADES
HP: 70
STR: 17
DEX: 17
AGI: 18
END: 16
MAG: 14
WIL: 17
CHA: 25
SATURN + NONE
HP: 60
STR: 16
DEX: 18
AGI: 14
END: 15
MAG: 16
WIL: 19
CHA: 25
Foil will have decent AGI, which is nice, which can help with charming enemies faster. It's also Monika's "default" type, so it fits her nicely. Having the Fencer glimmer type won't be terrible, as it's an extra chance to glimmer smallblade arts. Trucks has the same glimmer type so it's not completely necessary.
None has terrible Agility but the Dex is a little better. I don't know if 1 DEX is worth a sacrifice of 4 to Agi. Actually, with how this game works, it's DEFINITELY not worth it, as weapon skill levels are much more important than base stats. WIL losing two points to None is a little sad, but I still think the 4 Agi points are worth it.
So it looks like we're going with smallblades.
Monika has poor growth in pretty much everything but Lunar magic. Her piercing and bludgeoning growth is a little better than the others, and I don't really have plans to put a staff on anyone else, so I might just throw a staff onto her for the heck of it. Then she can carry a foil and a shield and maybe a balm or something. Foil + Staff + ??? + Shield. Since her piercing is going up maybe a spear would be nice.
Herman is taking Axes since it's his glimmer type. And Ward gets the greatswords. Might throw a normal sword onto him with a shield, too, for times when I want him to block that way. Trucks will be on foils as well, but probably take bows as a side weapon. Tiberius is pure mage type so it doesn't really help to give him any weapons.
Ward also has decent axe growth, so I'll throw an Axe on him, too. Especially since it gets War Song. Greatsword + Sword + Axe + Shield seems pretty good for him.
Trucks has piercing growth out the wazoo so it wouldn't be bad to give him a spear when I need him to damage more heavily. Foil + Spear + Bow + Staff of Life? The Staff of Life would be nice since he's going to be the fastest on the team. Maybe I'll sacrifice Bow on him to give him a shield. That's something I can decide as I play.
Tiberius is just getting balms and stuff, maybe a Staff of Life to save on JP when I need to heal.
Yang Fan doesn't come til the end of the game, but He'll take up a bit of martial arts and take over with spears and smallblades, so I guess it will be nice to get that Spear on Trucks so he can glimmer stuff for Yang Fan before we get him. Actually, that's more incentive to put a spear on Monika, too.
OK so let's plan out magic. Trucks having Nap is nice, though his WIL is not all that great. He also has great Solar making. Ward is better off with a weapons crown so I'll probably keep magic away from him. Tiberius is of course Solar + Genbu. Herman is bad at everything but has huge WIL, so Nap would be good on him, too. That leaves Monika. We're already going with Lunar on her, since she can charm, and we already have two Seiryus, so maybe we should go Genbu. But Yang Fan has good Seiryu growth.
Er, I mean, Soryu.
Maybe a team of mostly Soryu would be nice -- would really help with the elemental field shifting, especially since it helps to shift it away from water against that one dragon dude.
OK, that's where we're going. We'll throw Lunar on Herman, too, just to give him a cheaper heal and balance out the Lunar/Solar dynamic.
Monika - Soryu, Lunar
Ward - None
Trucks - Soryu, Solar
Herman - Soryu, Lunar
Tiberius - Genbu, Solar
So it looks like we have everything planned out! Wow, that only used up like an hour of my time. Now to find something to do for the rest of the day. Gonna watch Full Gear later. Hopefully I can actually sit through it and not feel too antsy :P

Date: 2019-11-12 08:47 pm (UTC)I'm excited for the confusion to start too hahahaha. It's definitely gonna throw you for a loop, but you have a little experience with the series already so that's good. This actually plays a little like Minstrel Song in the way that you gotta kinda explore around and find things to do and find new places to find more things to do. And you're familiar with glimmers and stuff so you know about those :)
