I've been watching 205 since the beginning with my brother and I watched the CWC on my own before that, and like... I can't believe that there has actually been like... real character development??? And plots that actually have some sort of foundation to them????
In regards to my ranking thing, I'm not going to completely redo it right now, but here's some stuff based on learning the characters who didn't appear a lot or were different before I 'met' them in more recent episodes:
- TJP has gone from one of my least favorites to one of my favorites. Well, not on the hotness list because he still looks the same, but actually seeing his story and development and understanding how he came to be a bitter asshole actually makes me really appreciate him a lot, and pre-manipulation TJP was adorable and wonderful, so I reeeaaalllly like him now hahaha.
- bearded Drew Gulak is not so 'generic' feeling when you get to know him. Especially nice that he's supposed to be a huge sadist who gets off on hearing the painful screams of his victims lmao. This also makes politician Drew even more alluring. Though he's really snapped now. Before he just liked doing normal wrestling stuff to hurt people -- you know, submission holds and stuff. But now he is like severely injuring people to enforce his rules... like he hit Tozawa in the neck with a wooden pole to destroy his vocal chords so he couldn't chant and was even about to break Metalik's leg to prevent him from doing jumping maneuvers... which is kind of terrifying but also really hot so liektalkgjaslkdgj
- LINCE DORADO IS ADORABLE AND SEXY. He did some cute stuff on Twitter recently, but more importantly, watching his old matches, he's just... hot in general??? So he has moved up both lists considerably, I'm sure. But yeah he's wearing a mask but I'm like DAM DAT CHIN and like, his body just has the Good Shapes? Even though i'm not into muscle type really.
- Mustafa Ali is the definitive perfect cinnamon roll character. When I first started watching and he talked about how people judged him based on his name and appearance (WWE is so afraid of ACTUALLY addressing racism because their target audience is racist I think LOL so they won't even say 'skin color' or anything like that when addressing racism issues, even when they're forced to directly confront it...) I thought he was going to be a Jinder-Mahal-like heel, but he ended up being just a really awesome character who really did just work hard to prove his worth and try to change people's minds and he really did win over the hearts of the fans which I think is really cool?!
- Daivari being so underdeveloped throughout the entire series is making me really love Daivari Dinero more.
- Tony Nese is like the only character who speaks English that doesn't develop at all? I kinda understand how they don't write as much story for the people whose actors can't speak English, but why has Tony Nese gotten like literally NO story?? He like... literally exists to be fan shipping fodder for Gulak or something...
- Hoho Lun was in the intro for like five months but never appeared in a single episode (except the first episode, where he just stood in line with the rest of the roster). Tajiri only appeared in like 2 episodes... I liked him in the CWC and was really hoping to see him as a character in the early episodes but I guess he was just... nonexistent?
- This is actually related to recent developments since writing the ranking post combined with some old stuff, but I really like how Kendrick is kind of a two-faced heel. Like generally, the bad guys are just super obviously bad and everything they say are do is just like "RAWR IM VILLINNNN" but Kendrick acts like a good guy and tries to help people (at least to get them on his side) and stuff, and he's just not just a walking rage machine who hates everyone because he's eeeeevil. So he's a really fun character. He's gotten a bit more bluntly evil recently, but because he's kind of on a high from actually being able to manipulate someone successfully I think hahaha. Though I think it's interesting how he and Jack are trying to recruit Cedric now, and I actually thought it was maybe going to work.
- Unrelated to everything else, but the Halloween episode was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. "RIGHT THROUGH THE CANDY CORNS!" I was just like o______o the whole time. Even little kids would probably think it was cheesy?
